It's true that most other international news agencies reported the attack as being carried out by an American craft.

But why would the KDF lie to everyone so blatantly when they know that the same international media could easily pick on this just to ridicule the Kenyan forces?

In this case,I think Col. Oguna is saying the truth. We do have these weapons in our possession.

The Clown may be right. KDF could be having drones. The same way we have F5.

The same way soldiers never looted, there were 15 terrorists, tunnels under Westgate, Ruto is innocent, Kibaki won in 2007, Raila won in 2013 etc etc

Some people believe anything!!

Top Shabaab militant killed in drone strike

In the DN story above Col. Oguna, the KDF spokesman, is quoted as saying that the UAVs that conducted the attack on Abdulahi Ali belong to Kenya. In the article he also confirms that Kenya has in its possession a number of surveillance and attack drones.

I'm quite impressed that we have such technology at our disposal and are able to use it effectively. When did we ever acquire these weapons?

My only worry is that after a few successes killing some Kebab commanders, KDF may be tempted to deploy their UAVs for many more operations within Somalia. There are always risks with this approach and we don't want to end up with the situation the USA has found itself in re Pakistan.

Any opinions on this?

KDF were given some drones for surveillance by US government and some for assault. However I strongly doubt we have the surveillance and intel gathering capability to hit a target with such precision, may be in a few years time. Afande was busy shooting Recee who is his close brother and some of them picking simus, Doubt they would very quickly morph into silky suave drone operators in 30 days!

I wonder how many civilians are killed after this attacks by using these drones? And the attacks since last year? We know these KDF are not following all rules of engagement. Before anyone cries oh, this oh that, please remember even the US were quilty of war crimes on Iraq.
We know there is a problem the rules of engagement. It is disturbing to think of what the soldiers could be doing to many innocent girls and women.

Somebody said that wars these days have become like vidoe game! Like scoring high scores by killing people.

There are so many errors made by these forces. And they don't show these attackes on TV. They just wait until the attacked people retaliate the killing of their innocent so that they can show that reaction on TV.

Just how do this drones operate with such accuracy in somalia for instance the drone hit a moving suzuki and yet their were other vehicles using the same road close to the targeted one according to one eyewitness...

They've been lying to us since Westgate happened. Even after we saw the cctv footage, they continued lying.

After sacking 2 officers, no official apology from the top liar.

I highly doubt we have such drones with such capabilities. The US would have absolute faith in Kenya to give her such hardware.

Its the same accuracy with which mattresses brought down a shopping mall...true KDF accuracy. Don't forget, they didn't loot Bata but emptied Adidas...accurate kabisa!

All other international news agencies call it a US drone...

Has the US army claimed they did it? If they haven't, who did it?

This is too funny, Ati KDF executed a successful drone attack. Which country apart from the US (and now Kenya Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly )has ever done that.

Who expects KDF to identify a target thousands of miles away when they can't tell the dfference between 4 and 15 people with guns right infornt of them.
