El Clásico is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (Real Madrid) and Futbol Club Barcelona (Barcelona).
Originally it referred only to those competitions held in the Spanish championship, but now includes every single match between the two clubs.

At La Liga's annual awards ceremony held on Monday, Lionel Messi was declared the best player for 2012/2013 season while CR7 won the first ever MVP award......what's the difference between those two awards. IMO this is just an attempt to appease the two players.
