I think those e mails gave a lot of perspective about the judiciary. They were unfiltered and uncut. It showed how people think and their behaviour when they think no one is listening. The content was more useful than the accusations prepared by the JSC and the responses from GBS.

I think the emails give a perspective on how an organisation's management deals with internal problems. In this case the CEO saw that there was a problem with one of his heads of department, he consulted other senior managers within the organisation, some board members (JSC commissioners including Grand Mullah), he even consulted his confidants outside the organisation (the War council). Then the CEO used all that information to reach a decision....and streamlined the Admin dept.

I think it's good that these emails leaked since they show that alot of consultation goes on within the judiciary before a decision is reached. It's not a one man dictatorship.

It is impressive to see these guys pull no punches in giving advice to their boss! A rare feat esp in govt circles. We tend to be 'Yes' men when it comes to the big man/leader often pleasing while misleading them.
Also impressive is the CJ humility in taking it. He must trust these guys absolutely...

yes... I was also impressed by Joel and Kwamchetsi! I think that is the role of advisors... not to be YES men!

What is the hullabaloo about? These emails were all over The Standard Online in the last 2 weeks. The emails were leaked by the former chief registrar who happens to be married to the CEO of the Standard Group (hence the reason why the other newspapers did not get the scoop). This is normal office politics.

So Ahmednasir was right when he said that 'a man and his wife hacked the CJ's email account'. That is criminal.

Yeah, the emails paint a picture of everyone working in consultation with each other before taking action while GBS works alone. This cannot possibly be good for her.
I still maintain that Justice Willy could have acted a bit faster and contained these issues. He also trusted her too much, to the chagrin of most technical people at the judiciary.
I agree with @jag, Ahmednassir is vindicated a lot.

Isn't this judiciary already the result of reforms?? So we want to reform again?? If we have a society of rot it doesn't matter who you put there, it will just yield similar results!

and we may even end up with worse guys there. this would would have been funny if it wasn't so tragic.

The CJ was also advised to use MBWA (Management By Walking Around)i.e popping up at various judiciary stations to increase his visibility and thus return the spotlight to himself and help consolidate his power.

The reformed judiciary should not be blamed for removing the cancer that was starting to eat it from the inside.

If you look at the emails, you will see how disappointed (and impatient) the CJs advisers were that he wasn't moving fast enough. They are also frustrated that he never used to inform them whether he would act on their recommendations or not (pg54). It's good for a CEO to be thoughtful, and distil the recommendations before he/she acts.
