Its great that KQ is getting the 777-300, but it is not a game changer. They have always had the 777-200 (which are in seriously dilapidated state) and in need of replacement. The -300 will not open new routes, but replace the existing -200s, the only advantage being an extra 100 or so seats and extra belly space. In fact, if the -200 crew cant fly the -300, it means that KQ will have to maintain three sets of crew specifically for one plane, and those are overheads.

Even the 787's are not coming in huge numbers. Only one is scheduled for delivery soon. LinkOnly one probably to be delivered in Q2 next year. Yet Ethiopian will be operating 8 787's around the same time.

Time for some education the 777-300 is replacing no plane, its an addition will fly the to china. The 787 (dreamliners) will replace the 767s not 777s, over the years. 787s are a smaller plane but fuel efficient. And dont forget that KQ has been receiving embraer planes every other month. Engineer Kamau decrees that henceforth all gaarment officials must fly KQ. The following day WSR jets in onboard a KLM. Is it a case do as I say, not as I do? Or is it that ICC flights are personal and not underwritten by the tax payer?

GG- the B772s KQ has are in great nick! The B773 could well be a game changer....think about it, they have the short range connectivity airplanes, what they lacked was a big boy, with bunks for the crew, this allows them to fly longer distances direct without the dog-legs. yes the crew on the existing B772 can intact fly the B773 with a short course... B788---start trickling in one by one, as they are custom made....

@Horton, I used a 772 from LHR in August and wouldn't exactly say the kite was in great shape. My personal screen was hardly responsive to touch, my seat wobbled wildly during takeoff, the under carriage made a deafening noise as it retracted - not exactly a nice user experience, unless you gauge a/c fitness solely by the soundness of the engines.
