Something about the tough talk made me uncomfortable, maybe I should be inspired but everytime a "populace" president preach against Imperialism the end result for "his" people is all too common.

I know a lot of people will dismiss my discomfort but the tough talk should atleast be discussed. Yes it is good for Uhuru just as it is good for Mugabes,Castros, ahmadinejads, Hugos, Lil Kims, but is it good for Kenyan( masses)?

Remember all the listed leaders, has/had a large following in their respective countries, that cheered at every mention of "fight against Imperialism" They all sold "nationalist" agendas!
again the result are all too common!
Just wondering!

"Our forefathers rejected colonialism and imperial domination in their time. We must honour their legacy, and stay true to our heritage, by rejecting all forms of domination and manipulation in our time,"
"They may be powerful and rich, but so were the colonialists. They may disrespect and even hate us; we have defeated their ilk before. The struggle to defend our independence is a daily calling for all Kenyans, and all the people of Africa,"

As much as i support UMK,i am also getting uncomfortable with his stance which i believe is driven by his handlers rather than himself. You can be tough without thumping your chest and here he can borrow from Muhaamad Ali's famous quote,"If you do not raise your fists, your enemy will not know what to do with you"....SIMPLE!
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Obama paid a visit to Tanzania, Tanzania is now having issues in EAC. Kenya has just discovered oil and other 'goodies'. If we are not careful, we might now become 'darlings' of people who shunned us, who might be after our 'goodies'.

But then again, what happens to Wanjiku when power is unchecked?

Lessons from Singapore.. How did it do it?

Singapore is one of only a handful of countries to have managed it in the past half century. A colonial outpost now has the third highest average income in the world. How did it do it? And why are social tensions now showing?

Even Chinease are preaching nationist agenda without mentioning imperialism. We all know that the most tranformed countries of the past 50 yrs came from a strong relationship with the West and the opposite can be said for those claiming to be fighting imperialism!

Infact fight against imperialism have always been sold by oppressive regimes in order to diverge attention from internal problems, it is an imaginary enemy people can rally against.

Someone mentioned that UK's waterloo was westgate. The more he talks, the more real this becomes.

Quote:
The celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium and elsewhere were designed to bring out patriotic fervour on the countdown to the 50th anniversary of Independence.

What they reminded me, however, was another gem from Johnson: “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.”

Please let’s, not use false patriotism and nationalism as a cover for our own failings and inequities.

Even the usual suspects are starting to ask some questions. http://www.nation.co.ke/...0/-/t1mktfz/-/index.html

Now we are going to boycott the commonwealth

[quote]KENYA is quietly lobbying African countries to boycott the upcoming 23rd Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka from November 15 to November 17, 2013.

Diplomatic sources told the Star that Kenya is pushing the move over the union's failure to take a decisive stance against the prosecution of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto at the ICC

I'm now waiting for Kenya to boycott from Planet Earth.

How much time is being spent on "personal" issues?
