lets face it the only place the ICC can operate is Africa! everywhere else people think highly of themselves and have a sense of national pride. 60% out of the countries with veto powers do not ascribe to it. they think its political. there was a UK mp that said if Africa withdrew from the ICC it would kill the court - kumbe hata hao wanajua!

Of course they think they are special and indeed they are because hey don't go hacking each other with machetes and other crude and primitive weapons. Look at Uhuru, Kibaki, Raila. They have tried the presidency for the umpteenth time and some are still not ready to let go. John Kerry, McCain and many more are civilized enough to understand how people feel. Africa is doomed. Only good at fighting jiggers, poverty, corruption, disease and all other imaginable ills in the world.

From the various posts on this topic, the main bone of contention where the ICC is concerned is that its arc of justice does not seem to stretch to all countries in the world and is therefore viewed as biased.

However as a country we signed on (was this done during Amos Wako's tenure?) and therefore we need to walk the walk.

If the President refuses to go to the Hague then we all have a conflict of interest in that we as Kenyan citizens (and bordering countries that rely on the port of Mombasa) will be affected if sanctions are imposed and hence why many are fighting/praying that he goes.

Looking at the bigger picture, this issue seems to have brought African counties together and a united Africa is a scary thought for the West who have historically used divide and conquer tactics to loot Africa and grow their economies.

If the AU gets its way then this may be that moment in history when Africa will indeed rise and take its rightful place as a global citizen and we as a black people start believing in ourselves.

Masukuma you need to explain why its only Africa that refers its own to the ICC.
