If the stories of half the Al Shabaab WestgatE attackers about to be received as heroes in parts of Somalia gain credence and hit the headlines lets just say the gallant efforts of our servicemen will be a rumour!!!

Amisom has made headway in recent years – taking Mogadishu from al-Shabaab in 2011 and Kismayo in 2012. But the number of red blobs on Amisom's map is still large and does not seem to be shrinking. It is in these areas, fighters revel in mythical 'Mujahideen' stories.

Can our media please do it's part and convert this horrendous WestgatE episode into something positive.

I believe some of the attackers got away but looking at the geography of the place, distance of WG from the tunnel, the sheer numbers of security forces there and their 24hr positioning, the tunnel story in my view is a bit far fetched..any escape was likely latest Sat when their were significant numbers of trapped people..one case as confirmed by this witness - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6F1yWAGKhU

It's highly unlikely to drill/dig across 100m or so underground to the sewer line in just 24hrs undetected across a secured area where stealth was the modus operandi and emerge from this sewer to where platoons were lined up all the way till Lower Kabete Rd, Sarit or Oshwal Centre undetected. A source indicates there were already attackers in the building when the shooting started who helped set up booby traps and then melted away as 'victims'.. the story should unravel as people seek to cover their a$$es #WeAreOne_dering

this would be very sad but i doubt our media can do much if people in charge GOOFED in the first place.

on the other hand, it is also possible that this is part of the alchambambu propaganda, may be they have some serious spin doctors. lakini sio kusema ati people in charge did not goof Sad

Abu Sandheere, the "extremely smart" Al Qaeda operative is the man we should set our sights on. Its reported that he crossed to "Somali on Friday on Friday after days of avoiding the tight security that had been mounted across the country to stop suspected terrorists from escaping."

Must be extremely good at hide and seek

The truth has to be said but does it take foreign media to keep cover a case like the following one 'Haji united with the family he helped save - http://bit.ly/1fCdP1N '

@ecstacy, let it go, let this one end. We no longer have the bandwidth for it. It's a national shame, we were humiliated and then looted by our own finest soldiers. There is nothing positive about that. Let us not spin mythical tales because it is clear we lost this battle. Allow us to go back to our normal lives, pay our taxes and endure the ravages of inflation and hope our govt actually gets its priorities right

I think we also need to get our priorities right as citizens. We feed corruption and ineptitude with our approach to life. We need to examine ourselves and build a better Kenya.
