Is it only me only are there other wazuan who feel this reshuffling never helps in any way..Shame on you Shame on you In the end result you end up transferring corruption, in-competencies to other areas that were sound. In the end result the same practice continues..

Where I work if I don't perform or there is gross negligence as experienced recently (westgate), I will easily loose my job.Pray Pray better yet I will humbly resign..

Why cant we have they same with the public service and specifically police forceSad Sad Sad Is there a policy the apply that I have no idea about

What we need is a complete change of strategy in terms of:
1. Security forces training-the curriculum at kiganjo needs an overhaul.
2. Disaster response/ counter terrorism units- it took too long for response by recce unit! A highly trained rapid response unit always on stand by needs to be urgently set up.
3. Revamp intelligence gathering - the Moi era intelligence gathering capacity of Special branch is highly needed.

Firing a few will surely send the right message across.. problem is no one want to take that step else they also become targets..Shame on you Shame on you Shame on you

It's all inter-linked with the everyone protecting each other... not sure how this will ever be eradicated but anytime you try to pin someone, a few others come to his/her defense..

When will this culture change Sad Sad Sad Who will be the first one to throw the stone.. PLO tried it.. look at where he isSad Sad

It would be nice if we were informed on why these officers are being reshuffled.

I personally would prefer that police officers stick in one place for all their working lives unless they apply for transfers, thats what is done in most of the world, what is so special about Kenya that warrants the constant relocation of the police and other government employees. If someone does not want a transfer he should be allowed to work in one location so he can also raise a stable family.

The results of these transfer is that many govt employees settle their families in one place and then move all over the country, as long as they work where their families are not located, they never really commit themselves wholly to deliver.

Fact is even a crooked cop will not allow a drug dealer to peddle his drugs in a neighbourhood where he is raising his family, neither will he let thugs go free or even tolerate dangourous driving.

Seriously, if a "Westgate" happened at work, the guy in charge of security would be tarmacking now...private sector is merciless.

But I suppose given that GOK appointments are based on tribe not merit...we should not expect much change, or improvement.

true.. true.. they will own the place and feel more at home hence commit more to its development.. And security will be guaranteed since they will also be protecting their interests..

These reshuffles/movements leads to non commitment even when dealing with the issues at hard.. after all "I will be transferred after its discovered"d'oh! d'oh! .. so no need to care what impact his/her actions result
