The courage, the humility... simply touching. Viva Abdul! You, my countryman, are a hero.

A true hero....extremely brave, love him!!

Problems can get out of proportion, and not only in the wee small hours. Don't let the problems eclipse the Master. Let the Master eclipse the problems.

There may be other people deserving of medals for their bravery during this incident, but if this one man does not get it, I say let it not be given to anybody else.

Other than Brave and Courageous, he is an Intelligent boy. Truly Brilliant. I like the way he answered Questions.

Just wondering, what does he do for a living for those who know him?

I agree that this guy is a hero, but there are so many others out there, let us not heap praise on one man and forget there were many others who were part of whole operation.

I think I acknowledged that in post #3. But every profound experience always has a face... a "poster child". It was Mandela for apartheid and Luther for the Civil Rights Movement. Abdul may very well emerge as the face of the heroism at Westgate. And I say he's a damn good candidate.

Was in school with him many years back, not sure what he does currently.

The newspaper article I linked to says:

Quote:
Mr Haji, a businessman and a father of four daughters, believed the feared attack had come.

He is a hero, I salute him. He is a courageous man and he deserves to be commended.

I am surprised he is 38. He doesn't look anywhere above 25!

What HEROES are made of.

What pissed me was the line of questioning Smirti was pursuing. Trying to explain to him HIS pics and what HE was trying to do.

All in all, HATS OFF for him.
Him and all the faceless men and women who stood for their people.

And here's why. His humility and his smarts. Did you notice how many times he gave credit to his colleagues? How many times he said "we" and "us"? How he didn't try to guess answers to questions he had no facts about? How he avoided dwelling on other peoples' weaknesses - like the police who were perceived not to have responded fast enough? Give it to this guy, he speaks from the heart.

I think everyone who participated in the rescue mission is a hero but this photo really touched me. The baby appears to be so calm in his arms....

Interesting to note that SAS and other intelligence agencies are hiding/defacing their officers while we expose ours. How safe is Abdul now? Especially from his own Muslim extremists? smh
