The bosses that be, never learn do they? Telling Kenyans lies like there is no fire is very very bad, especially when some of us have info and the rest can see a fire on live TV.

Kenyans are behind you 100%. take the propaganda rule book and throw it out the window. It's only making families desperate.

I know you are reading wazua. Please change this attitude, it may be what go us here in the first place.

@InteriorKE denying there is fire at Westgate yet the fire can be seen live on themTV........and that is not the 1st open lie being told to the public!!!

Ruto just said "I am saddened to learn that you lost some of your colleagues when on the line of duty" when reffering to the kdf. Earlier they said none of them had diesLiar Liar

Numerous conflicting info....they'd better to stick to one story just to keep the citizens calm and know they are in control...

Funny moments....

Ati Ruto akifika aambiwe ni damu tunatoa sio machozi...

Ati an army general was asked "Wud u forgive a terrorist?" He replied..."Forgiving is done by God. Mine here is to arrange for their meeting"

Nah @washiku, that was a line from Man On Fire, starring Denzel Washington. Good movie. It is also quite possible some general said that.

Why? due to multi-agency approach? lack of uniform?

Gordon Opiyo
Personal Experience With Police when
I reported a Suspicious Character:
Early August 2013, I had a major
disagreement with a young man that
I had come to know for about one
year. He was threatening to harm me.
When I asked about his background, I
was informed that he had been
imprisoned some time back, got
converted to Islam while in prison,
and came out and disappeared for
some time(Probably to another
country). When he came back, he
started displaying wealth whose
source could not be explained- He
has three cars, and a number of
Nissans plying the Eastleigh Komarock
route. This got me concerned, so
when I wanted to go report to the
Kenya Police- I was strongly advised
against going to the regular police in
Kayole, Donholm or Buru Buru since,
according to my contacts, the young
man was too close to the police- and
was untouchable. I was advised to try
the AP- since they may not be as
compromised as the regular police.
So I went to the Kayole DO camp to
register the threats in OB
08/05/08/13. However, I the following
morning, the young man came to me
and laughed at the fact that I had
reported him to the police. He simply
told me that he had sorted them. In
the evening, I when I went to report
the new threat, the Police called the
young man. He came in his latest car,
and I was shell shocked when I saw
him hugging a senior AP officer at the
entrance. Being a practical Kenyan, I
knew the direction events would take.
As the police at the "Customer Care"
desk were talking with us, another
senior AP officer came and sat
nearby. Just as we were talking, he
interjected ad started accusing me of
being in the wrong, and within
minutes asked the young man to
write a statement, and within
minutes after the statement, I was
arrested- on the basis of that latest
statement. Of course I was released
after 30 minutes. I was in shock. I
shall stop there on that matter.
I could not simply believe that
someone that has the great honour
of wearing uniform that has the
"Crown" of the State can stoop sooo
low for the sake of a few thousands. I
wondered how many more dangerous
characters have compromised the
police.
When the Terrorists attacked
Westgate, memories of my experience
with the police in August came back.
I wonder how I am expected to report
suspicious characters, when
immediately after reporting- the
Police will call the same characters
and tell them that Gordon is
reporting. I wonder how I am
expected to take action, when the
first line of defense- the Local Police
Men and Women- are known to be
extremely money hungry characters-
that take bribes as low as 100 bob?
Mr. President, we are ready to to
support you 100% in fighting Terror,
but please give us a Police force that
is credible. Or better- create a new
unit that has the confidence of
Kenyans, and reports DIRECTLY to
you. Within two months, Mr
President, you will have ALL the
information you need to fight Terror.
But with the current money hungry,
and shamelessly corrupt Police Force-
I doubt you will achieve much.
Without public confidence in the
local police, lots of valuable
intelligence on terrorists will remain
in our hearts.
