Good day for Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City.

Though I'm an Arsenal fan, I would rate the top EPL contenders as followers:

Man City
Chelsea
Man U
Liverpool
Arsenal
Tottenham

Perhaps, the above list represents my views as at the moment. Might change my mind in future.

agree fully. That spine in man city, and considering lescot, Richards, Clichy et al were not playing is terrifying. They were oweful against hull, cardiff and stoke, but yesterday was breathtaking for extended periods of time. Give them time to gel, and they'll thump teams

I don't think so, its too early to talk about contenders.....lets look at how things will be after 10 matches.

What is wrong with Mourinho, has he lost it. What does he have against Mata ama he's just punishing for the way he was treated in Spain. Mata has been Chelsea's player of the year for two consecutive seasons but now all of a sudden he's not good enough....ati he needs to adapt to the way he (Mourinho) wants the team to play.

Too early to draw conclusions. Man City has struggled against smaller teams before, they are not that invincible. They had a good day and took it.

By mid December the pic will be clearer.

The worst thing in my opinion about yesterday's humiliating loss is that Moyes actually had the audacity to say that he still feels we were deliberately given tough early fixtures by the FA...

@Taz - you were right. Arsenal stuck the boot into Stoke. Congrats.

Jose - claims that Mata has not done enough to prove him wrong on the pitch...on the evidence of the two starts that he got for the Aston villa and Everton game. Hence he is giving him a chance to redeem himself on Tuesday in the league one cup in which players who didnt feature on sato will play.

Jose is either playing mind games to motivate Mata or prepare the fans for his disposal come January 2014...will wait and see.

On the evidence of the first 5 games...this league looks like it will be very tight at the top.

Yaani Liverpool have already lost their rhythm? I knew it would happen just didn't expect it to be this soon.

BBI will solve it

@smano hard to have a smile from where i am seated for obvious reasons but it did make interesting viewing, so here are my review points.

Sometime last week i said Leverkusen made United look good and more so their defense/goalie however United calvary were having non of it i could not help but wonder why the obvious was being neglected guess its goggles as they say.

Pellegrini is a 'thinker' the mould of Mourinho, Martinez, Wenger and the likes and Moyes cannot hold a candle on him, i liked it when the press were proding him as to whether he is ready for the biggest derby of his life and he replied he managed the biggest derby of all time between River plate and Boca juniors #knockout and its this is when i realised United will have it rough (just by the calm nature he gave that reply)

So what went wrong - "You can buy class A eggs or B eggs however Class A eggs make better ommlettes" said one Jose and Fellaini, Smalling, Young, Rio, Cleverly, Carrick are no class A eggs.
The intricate/fast pace of the game made it impossible for united and more so City have the players suited for this kind of game. It was amazing how the "new signing" was bullied by Vincent and the mark of a good player is not to get frustrated and Rooney became increasingly agitated and with that their most creative spark was neutralised and we all know Van persie is worse and he would not have made a difference.

Moyes is no man for the big occassion his inability to change the game when it mattered most cost him dearly - we all could see United were being overun in midfield but well Moyes knows best and what was a bad situation at half time became unrecoverable soon after and its after 4 goals that City allowed United to play. Why he dint play Nani, Kagawa is beyond me but hey i obviously dont know much aboput football as him.

So will united win the league well ofcourse not and i will bwe surprised if they go beyond the quarters in CL and the constation effect of that is the Fabregas et al will think twice of coming to United guess they just have to do with the class B/C eggs for sometime. Ask Liverpool..

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

Juan Mata not making the bench
Arsenal scoring three from set pieces
Balotelli finally misses a spot kick
Getafe beats Barca on possession ( but not goals of course)

interesting times ahead!

It looked like there was another terrorist attack at the Etihad! What a bad day at the office!!!I was so hopeful coming into this encounter after events at Old Trafford against Leverkusen but was wary of that short stocky man called Aguerro, and clearly with good reason.

My observations:
1. Smalling CANNOT play right back. Rafael and Jones cannot come back any sooner. Smalling was culpable for the first goal and can never put in a tackle to save his life. The goal was fantastic!
2. Vidic and Rio are slow as turtles and cannot play in 2 consecutive games, at least not Rio. Evans' return cannot come sooner. Aguerro was all alone for the 3rd.
3. Young was a waste of good money. Wilfried Zaha had excellent performance in pre season causing havoc amongst all defenses but Moyes big bulgy eyes cannot see that.
4. Shinji Kagawa's favourite position is just behind the striker. This would have been a perfect game to pay just behind Rooney. Moyes big bulgy eyes cannot see that
5. Evra and Valencia were absent on the left as Navas run the whole length of the pitch to give an inch perfect cross for Nasri.
6. Defensively we were toddlers. Fellaini was covering Yaya Toure when the corner was delivered for the 2nd but felt he should Yaya and go for the ball, with Rio and Vidic. Negredo rose above all 3 and Yaya scored.

Verdict. Moyes is hapless against big teams and seems incapable of making a decision when we're behind. Moyes also believes that English players like Young and Wellbeck can take us to the promised land instead of Kagawa and Zaha. Nani languished in the bench while Valencia made a mockery of himself. Carrick and Fellaini were strangers in the pitch. Rooney did his best and is now the all time leading scorer in the derby thanks to that sumptuous free kick. Unfortunately no one will remember that. We really missed RVP.

Unfortunately I have to agree. Moyes ni fundi wa Grogon and cannot handle this Ferrari that is Man Utd. I remain Utd damu but will not be hopeful on anything. One game at a time. We have the personnel but Moyes does not know how to rotate. In January I think we need defensive cover in Ezequiel Garay and obviously a creative midfielder with defense splitting passes. For now nitajikaza kisabuni.

P.S. @RicDees and @Nostopping, wipe off those smug smiles from your faces!!!

Very few people get into a new office and start shining. Hata Fergie took some considerable amount of time. Adaptation is not a quick fix thing. It requires time.

@urstill, agreed, Fergie was given time, but then we hadn't won the league for 20 odd years or so. That's not the case now. I'd understand if we didn't have personnel, but Kagawa, Nani, Zaha and Hernandez are rotting in the bench while Moyes opens his frog eyes and can't see we're being overrun and make tactical decisions in the half!!! For sure the 2nd goal just before the half (defensive error) was the killer blow followed by the early 3rd goal in the 2nd half.

For sure we need to bounce back in the Capital One tie against Liverpool tomorrow at OT. Suarez may feature which will mean more headache for defense. Time for Moyes to show he can rotate the squad wisely. We're used to winning so to ask Man Utd fans to give Moyes time might be too much to ask.
