Thanks jagger for the photo. Looking at the faces of these madmen has really gotten me worked up.

Is there a link with more of such?

Am not an expert on security operations but i think if the govt conducted a ruthless operation in eastleigh
that would see all businesses close for atleast one week, we might see some results. My reasoning here is that
given a choice between closing down their businesses and betraying the thugs among them, most businessmen
will opt for the latter.

Then we turn the heat on all those who facilitated suspicious multi-million shillings property transactions a while back.

Followed by a forensic audit of all passports issued in the last 5 years. . . . . May be am too mad and cant think straight.

As Kenyans we have to ask ourselves real hard questions. The kind of ammunition that they have did not just fall from heaven, it passed thru some route, almost all of them are foreigners when did they get into the country? . We are either sleeping heavy in our jobs or we have collaborators within our security establishments, in our estates in our businesses etc.

This is the kernel of it all.

we never dig that far, we don't seem to have time for root cause analysis

unless of cause its has something to do with politics

We need to review all our security measures they have been compromised and we could be in for more surprises.
Let's all be vigilant and report any suspsious activities.

This issue of foreigners applying for Kenyan visas once they arrive at JKIA should be reviewed so that the visitors are thoroughly scrutinized in our embassies abroad before traveling to Kenya.

Ditto.

Now that we have oil, coal and other valuables, we can afford to be stringent on the kind of characters we let in. Terrorists, extremests, pedophiles etc should be persona non grata.

The levels of corruption in the Immigration department is worrying. From the issuance of Visas & Work permit.
I hope this event will knock some senses in their heads.

Ditto, policy issues here, competing interests esp business versus regulations ask KQ and Tourism; they advocate for open borders, recall Balala at Tourism even lowered visa fee by half yet no increase in arrivals resulted? THis idea of listening to all and sundry on matters should be pampered with firm dictatorship in even disciplining errant officers.

So far, we are playing into Shabaab hands; psychologically. We are supposed to be very angry, and fearful; over what neither angers nor frightens them.

Look at what the media is offering. The best we can do is have a blackout. Closing our eyes.

That's why they seem to be playing long. We are being engaged in sophisticated psychological warfare here. The only way out is to have an equally sophisticated counter psychology with a robust media presence even in Somalia, even amongst the Al Shabaab, and all religions of the world.

I'm not talking about about just changing the Al Shabaab psychology, but us changing our psychology and value systems.

For example, consider the view offered in one of the links we've been offered here, where the writer is advising against a backlash on Somalis; how else can we play?

If it's about improving our intelligence without harassing Somalis then we'll be speaking of status quo levels. That's 'doing nothing' in effect. Hence offering ourselves for further attacks, leading to more frustration and anger, more Al Shabaab.

Escalating our commitment to violence can't be a solution either. We need a strategy that will pull the KDF from Somalia while leaving it peaceful and stable, and counter religious support for violence. We also need to engage youth more constructively, we should reduce the number of youth killed in the war against crime. Giving the youth capital without offering an alternative worldview will lead to more poverty among them.

The Al Shabaab is about youth; and so far, youth in Africa are in a desperate position, and any idea can set them on fire. So why not take advantage of the situation and offer water instead?
