Jimny, 1.3L petrol. 1999. Cheapest "true" off-roader money can buy. A torquey 4WD system with a low-range gearbox, a short wheelbase and lots of ground clearance means you'll be hard pressed to find enough mud to get stuck in. It's the one place this car absolutely shines.
Fuel consumption is not great but it is acceptable. I guess it's the boxy shape and the temptation to rev the puny engine hard. Any parts you need to change regularly are easy to find on Kirinyaga Rd., but be prepared to fork out a fortune at CMC if you break a light or crush a body panel.
You get a reasonable amount of space in the front. And when you step into the car you will be surprised at how easy it is to fool your mind into thinking you are driving a Cherokee, especially if, like me, you have an over-sized bull-bar sticking out the front. Then you step out again and feel like you are looking at a bedbug.
Sitting in the back is only comfortable for pre-pubescent kids, and the boot won't take any more than three or four small sacks of potatoes. But you'll be grateful you loaded up the car like that because then it feels a tad more sure-footed. It isn't the speediest or best handling car on the road you know. But people who want that buy Subarus, not Suzukis.
And you better have a woman of your own already. This car ain't gonna get you no girls. That's what Audis are for.
And if you give me a good price for mine maybe we can talk... just maybe.
