Every day there are jobs flying around in the Dailies for the new counties as we endeavor to attain the dream of devolution. My question is, which ethnic communities are eligible to apply for those jobs...Does it mean that because I hail from Machakos, I cant apply and qualify for a similar position in Homabay County? Isn't this worsening the already worse state of tribalism in Kenya? What did the architects of devolution have in mind? It looks like this was a thing not well thought through and will only create a 'rift valley' among Kenyans.

Too bad. You have asked questions, answered yourself and made a conclusion. Its possible for you to get a job say, in Isiolo. County government are required to ensure at least 30% of staff hail from outside the county. However, the law is one thing. Implementation/interpretation is another.

Thank you. Its slowly becoming common practice... However, charity has been said to begin at home. A person who's lived in a said locality would be best placed to comprehend the challenges facing it. Morever it has its advantages in giving the disadvantaged locals opportunities.

I don't think someone from Kiambu county can get a job in the County Government of Siaya and if she gets the job the propaganda that will be unleashed on the governor will be unmanageable and he will end up serving one term. This is Kenya.

70 % will not be realistic keeping in mind some counties do not have expertise in some fields, they will have to employ from outside the county but in future this will be about ethnicity not merit.
