What do you think will be the effect! Price down to 2 or up to 5.

Safcon was to give priority to their syndicated loans.

A dig into the prospectus shows the amounts do not look good!

A look into the crystal ball indicates a dip.... less than 3/- unless they pay 0.05 cents dividends

Dig for the long haul!!!

Jammo will never support any counter other than Equity despite it's characteristics of a 'club merry go around' and 'pyramid' scheme. I think he could be Equity's chief propaganda clerk.

I believe it will be one of the largest beneficiaries of the TEAMS project, something I don't think the current pricing has factored. It owns 20% of the project! In terms of strategy...Michael Joseph is even the TEAMS chairman and spokesman..This counter was great bet for Kenyans during its IPO but for most, expectations went unfulfilled to say the least. The opposite can equally happen with the ICT boom. ..only if...

What does it take to do a share consolidation/ buy back? Talk of this anywhere in SCOM not end year results may reverse sentiment...focus back to the results..

The same jammo and Wanguyu were crying that the coop ipo should be postponed to Feb 09. If his call had been heeded; it would have been a bloodbath for Co-op. Nevertheless Jammo's posts are very insightful. But just donot believe everything he posts.

@Ecstacy - re: TEAMS,Safaricom are having a hard time positioning themselves for TEAMS (data). TEAMS will be a high volume, low margin model - thus they need to reach MORE people. their 3G is nice and dandy but not everyone can get a 3G handset. They are still shopping around for money....meanwhile people like KDN,through RSA partners (ALtech) are moving in leaps and bounds to secure clients in Eastern Africa. Access Kenya are working on FTTx (home or office).....voice revenues are declining.....I think Safaricom can only become more mediocre....my two pesetas

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

It's undeniable whether backed by facts or not that there's generally a very good feeling about SAFCOM offcourse partly because of the waning competition!

Make your decision.

20% of the proceeds arising out of the TEAMs project will go to SCOM. ..additionally but not as significant..remember even operators on the SEACOM cable will buy into TEAMs services as a failover strategy.

@ddsimiyu - what have you got against EQTY? All banks are merry-go-rounds! They take money from person A and pay him interest q. The money is then lent to person B who is charged interest r. The bank only needs to make sure that q is less than r and that the difference between the two can pay rent and salaries and leav some profit for the owners...the owners being akina jammo

And another thing.......the fact that it has close to 4,000,000 customers does not make it a pyramid scheme.....

@doh - have you looked at the price of co-op? Such a dropp so soon after the IPO and also coming hot od the heels of SCOM have created the false impression amongst Kenyans that stock prices will always dropp after an IPO. Guess what will happen when the next company tries to sell shares....the public will shy away.

CO-OP was bound to be bad publicity for the market...it turned out to be so!!!

First....... tuwache speculation. About the effect on the share price,it wont be that much. Just some minimal effect. Here performance seems not to be tied to the company's results. However the stock is a good bet for the longterm holders.
