@Taz. being top seeded wont help you guys. As a matter of fact you are top seeded because of your good performance in champions league between 2005 and 2010. But from 2010 onwards you guys have never gone past round 2 and this shows your CL form has been poor. This time hamuoni round 2

Wrong, seeding is done based on your performance in the last 5 seasons. Arsenal are currently ranked 6th and if we qualify for the tournament next we will still be in pot 1........btw @King G Man Utd is ranked 5th, check the UEFA website for more details on coefficients.

Champions League football is back - where the men are separated from the boys!

Personally I think we're in a very hard group, I've seen highlights of Leverkusen and Sociedad games and they both have the capability to do what Bilbao did to us a couple of seasons ago, both home and away. Shaktar are a difficult proposition any day. I hope Moyes and Utd take all the games seriously to avoid any embarrassment

Cristiano Ronaldo's new Real Madrid contract makes him not only the best paid footballer on the planet, but also the best paid individual in the history of the sport. Under the terms of the five-year deal announced by the Liga club yesterday, the Portugal international is to be paid a basic salary of €21 million net. Ronaldo will earn performance bonuses and substantial image right payments on top. The figures, which precisely double the then-unprecedented wage Ronaldo agreed upon joining Madrid in 2009, equate to a weekly basic of €403,000, underlining the scale of the forward's sporting and commercial prowess.

@ Smano....We have never failed to advance from the group stages under Wenger but kama kawaida majority of those pundits think Arsenal will not make it to the knockout stage. It also seems everyone has written off Marseille yet last time they met Dortmund (2011-2012) they thrashed them both home and away. IMO i think they will be several surprises across the groups.

How strong is Juventus? I see them twice as winners and once as runners up. Did they strengthen over the window? I just think of Tevez.

What has Real gone and done for majority of the pundits to predict them winning the decima?

Nobody is giving Barca a chance to the finals, is Barca that bad or the Bayern thrashing is weighing much on this?

I was also surprised the way Barca have not been mentioned as being possible winners, though if you watched the match against Sevilla the other day and see how they were helped to that last gasp 3-2 win (past added time) then you can see why they're no longer viewed as unbeatable.

I honestly think Bayern have what it takes to be the first to retain the title in the CL era, both defensively and offensively.

@Taz that was Dortmund's first foray into the CL after some years in the wilderness. People thought they've lost the edge after losing Goetze but Mkhitaryan has fitted seamlessly and they look stronger than last season!(5 wins in 5 in Bundesliga. Napoli are also strong despite Cavani's exit so probably the reason most of the pundits think Arsenal could be edged out, and I tend to agree with them. Of course since it is your team huwezi ona hivyo.

Real are always strong offensively but weak at the back. Diego Lopez single handedly earned them a point at Villareal over the weekend.

I think Juve will be stronger this season, last season they met an unstoppable Bayern who just wouldn't let them play.

For me it is too early to make predictions. CL is not just about being the best, a little bit of luck or favourtism goes a long way and a bad draw can see a very good team exit early. Wacha tumalize group stages kwanza.

@Smano.....What makes them think Dortmund and Napoli are stronger than Arsenal? Are their players better than what we have especially in the midfield kwanza Napoli? These are the same pundits who keep making wrong predictions about Arsenal at the beginning of each season.

Anyway i agree Napoli and Dortmund are going to be tough fixtures but really all Arsenal need to do is get two wins over Marseille and then four points from the other four games and we’ll be through.....they all have to play each other you know. I really enjoyed our last match against Dortmund, they are bit similar to Spurs in their style of play....it will be a good match for the neutrals.
