Boy likely suffers from a learning disability like Richard Branson but very gifted in hands on stuff. What he needs is funding, not books and teachers.

funding to do what? to generate more village electricity? when i was in primary school, i read some books and made biogas and electricity from a pit latrine. also made turpentine from waste plastic. other kids i knew also did stuff like that - and even more. and we were not geniuses or anything - that i believe is something kids do all over the world growing up. some wazuans are too easily impressed or had unimaginative childhood.

So were you in the news?

Soon they will report that somebody made soap in the village!!!!

.....If you make an archaic version of something which is already functioning out there, is that innovation?

give the kid his due credit, the technology is not new but his undertaking is practical, at least to him and his home - they get to have some good lighting at a low cost.

if you managed to get your biogas and pit latrine electricity generation to light up your home and save your parents some chums then good, you deserved mention back then.

At this rate people lighting their own farts will be praised for their scientific brilliance. Are we that desperate? Come on.

And this will be a motivation to other young 'experimentalists'. Grand innovations start out this way. Imagine with your resourcefulness had you been encouraged in a big way.. Lets support this kid, lest he ends up in Wazua talking like this fella.
