We concluded that the popularity is all about the purchase price. Few shops stock Mazda spares because few Mazda owners ever need spares! Apart from the usual consumables like oil and air filters, brake pads and spark plugs, you will drive a Mazda for 5 years and never change anything else! That's why people say the parts are expensive... but you never need them anyway! Its a super car.
