Walking out is cowardly!
They should have sat in and fought because this is one of the few areas I personally agree with them. We should not terminate ICC because Kenya is not out of the woods yet and our courts in the past have failed us. I believe in CJ Mutunga but not in the court system yet which is still been reformed. Let's conclude the judiciary reforms then move out of ICC.

BBI will solve it

there is nothing cowardly about not engaging in useless debate. It's called wisdom.

What happened afterwards was a swarm of bootlickers falling over themselves to prove how much they loved the president. Very shameful behaviour from grown men and women.

Totally reminiscent of "Baba, tunakuomba baba, mtukufu rais, etc etc" of Kanu. Ooops I forgot, these were the Kanu babies.

History repeats itself and unfortunately, Jubilee looked like ass wipers. Each and every one of those mpigs.

Kenya: ICC Membership (Taken Question)

Taken Question
Washington, DC

Question Taken at the September 5, 2013 Daily Press Briefing

September 5, 2013

Question: What is the U.S. position on the Kenyan vote to remove itself from the ICC?

Answer: The United States is dedicated to supporting the rule of law and working to ensure accountability for crimes against humanity. We urge the government of Kenya to fulfill its commitments to seek justice for the victims of the 2007-2008 post-election violence. In that regard, we note President Kenyatta’s recent statements affirming his commitment to ensure that Kenya meets its international obligations as a party to the Rome Statute.

“As indicated in the Rome Statute of the ICC, a withdrawal does not have any impact on the open cases nor on the State’s obligations regarding cases that are already open before the ICC.....A withdrawal can be effective only one year after the deposit of the withdrawal notification to the United Nations Secretary General” ICC spokesman

Is this move by Jubilee really about halting prosecutions currently under way because that's almost impossible?

This move by Parliament is completely wrong. The kind of stupid decision that may one day come back to bite us in the glutenous maximus.

I am completely with CORD on this one. Parliament should represent the interests of the majority, not those of a small elite.

In fact I would use Ruto's words here: "Look them [Jubilee] in the eye and ask them if they would be so keen to pull Kenya out of the ICC if it was Raila and Kalonzo, rather than Ruto and Uhuru in the dock."

Impunity whether by individuals, groups or government is wrong. When Parliament stoops to condoning impunity, it is worse than wrong. It is sad.

There was no debate. And though 'Jubilee' played the game full time, they were hardly better than Cord.

Solutions create problems. And in this case, Jubilee seems to be intent on creating problems for themselves and the state at large. Why? Even if Kenya pulls out of ICC, she will need to retain her statehood, and how will she do it? The easy way out seems to be going 'East', but that would hardly be a solution. For strictly, Kenya would need to be powerful, and united. Otherwise we'll be taking colonialism to the next evolutionary stage.

The President himself will need to show the proper form of Justice, that unites all humanity. So far he is losing that opportunity.

And his friends, and foes alike are egging him in the wrong direction.

I am not with either camp on this. Lakini I don't support withdrawal from this kangaroo political court, to me the deterrent effect of the ICC helped this country avoid a repeat of 2007/2008 after March 4th, the losers were too scared of callling for "mass action" this time round, why? ICC.

Too painful for you to say that you are with CORD....huh, the 2nd part of your statement contradicts the 1st part!!!!
