Some countries even have an inheritance tax. They value the property left behind and charge 30% tax.

I don't think Kenyans would be complaining if they saw their taxes being put to good use. The most painful thing is to be heavily taxed and not see where these taxes go.....No, the most painful thing is to see my tax go to paying some mpigs increased salaries so that they can go ahead and pass stupid bills in parliament.
By the way, where do these guys shop, aren't they equally affected by the increase in price of basic commodities. Ama ni kupitisha tu bills without thinking through what the impact to society would be.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.... Leo Buscaglia

death and taxes... people you need to understand that money does not grow on trees! whenever someone promises you something you need to ask yourself... WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM!! stuff costs money and government does not have any money of its own. it needs to raise money in 3 major ways.
1. shareholding of businesses (parastatals and companies like safcom... mafuta?)
2. taxation
3. borrowing!

kibaki exploited most of those ones to some extent but borrowed heavily. Uhuru has taken the taxation route! Just hoping mafuta becomes viable soon (hope its fully gava owned) so that we can relax the tax noose.

capitalists don't care about social benefits. As of now, we know who will be walking away with the dollars. I wouldn't bet on this.

I used to think like a capitalist but I have learnt that we can equalize society by using the commonwealth! oil has to be used to equalize our society... don't be lied to if you approach it US style we will regret having oil.

As Kenyans we need to look at our statement of Income and Expenditure especially in view of the devilution

You have seen adverts in the papers for positions in 47 county assemblies and public service boards with attractive perks

you all saw county budgets donge??

meantime we have a bloated civil service that used to do the very same jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and you dare ask why taxes are increasing

Choices have consequences. Somebody show me the hansard on how the VAT bill passed i need to mark out the MPs that voted so that i know how my MPig voted.

where are the alternative proposals from the opposition?

Shame on you Shame on you Sad Sad
