Sumuni, have you done a comparative test by fueling early in the morning and when hot, may be 2pm?

fuel saving tip-Always fuel your car very early in the morning when the temparatures are low. you see, the fuel pump uses volume(the Litre is a unit of volume) as a measure of how much fuel is pumped out. Fuel will, as all liquids do, expand as temparature increases. Although the expansion coefficient is small, it becomes quite significant if you are filling the tank, so much so that it can cancel out the 4 shilling increase in fuel prices. My Physics teacher would be so proud of me now smile

Agreed. Even the customs officials at the port do the measuring of petroleum product levels at times of the day when the temperatures are cooler

@Lucid, here's my logic.
The coefficient for expansion of petrol is 0.00095 per degree centigrade. use the simple formula c=dV/(V.dT). where c is the expansion coefficient, V is the volume, dV is the change in volume, dT is the change in temparature. rearranging one gets dV=c.VdT. working with a hypothetical case say 60L tank with a 15 degrees change we get
dV=0.00095x60x15=0.085L. At current pump prices that is almost 100 shillings in savings. Do we concur?
It is a curious fact that of all the illusions that beset mankind, none is quite as curious as that tendency to suppose that we are mentally and morally superior to those who differ from us in opinion.

0.085L=10.54KES. May not be worth the effort.

my bad. that was a typo. the figure comes to 0.85 and not 0.085.

If you have to top up so as to purchase data bundles or even just to make phone calls it is a good idea to buy the "credo" at the dealers at whole sale prices, this easily saves you 5 to 8% depending on the denomination or the network you are on.
For example if you wanted to buy airtime worth 2000,buying at a dealer will save you 100KShs.(5%)
@tony point noted expect to see more products added in the near future

Still on for 2012:

Buy quality.

In most case the difference between a poor product/service and a great one is a K or two. Quality makes you feel good and enjoy the product longer.

Eg. get the best car tyres not cheapest available. If you can't afford the best quality, pack at home till you get the cash to do it. Also service at the best yard.(Not necessarily more expensive but the key thing is insist on Quality not saving on cash.).

Cloths. Get quality long lasting shoes (men). Don't mind fashion.

Hair cut. Pay well. Get best hair cut with cool treatment. You feel good and look good smile. The energy flows to your productivity and more cash is eventually generated.

Housing: If renting, add a little 3-5k and move to a more secure an classy estate. Your carpet will not be stolen next time your house help cleans it. Your kids will develop in a safe environment and you will feel good. You will be encouraged to work harder from the kind of vehicles/lifestyle you see in the neighborhood.

Learn to spend on what you need (not want) and life will never be the same again.

Help others get what they need.

Invest in knowledge; "The riches man in Babylon" and other related books.

The essence of our toil is to enjoy life's little luxuries.

We are all here for a short time. Keep pilling notes and we shall eventually call for a night meeting to contribute 7k to get you a final home. (Shame on you ).
Keep it simple
