Genetics

I disagree.... there is nothing genetically wrong or different with us. I know what you think... but its not the cranium sizes is all just a retrogressive (old world) culture. in a couple of years we will catch up!

actually some diseases that ail us may lead to impaired cognitive development ie malaria and many helminthic infections. They may not kill you as a kid but you will live with the effects for the rest of your life. Considering that these things have been around for millenia and some are still around today. Cumulatively over millenia you dont need to imagine the damage, you have us the kenyan voter

Arrogance..... Africans are just downright arrogant people; "Do you know who I am attitude." When African make a little more money they want to slap everyone walking the streets.

Just to add on to what Rollout has said; my take is that of the game theory which states that in order for me to win you must lose. We mistakenly believe that there is not enough for everyone.

This was ingrained in Kenyans under the divide and rule system employed by the British colonial government which also established the class system. A few loyal Africans (read hyenas) were elevated above the others and this continues to date.

What we lack is great leadership which seeks to build everybody. A pure capitalistic society of man eat man as Nyerere described Kenyans is not the answer but neither is communism which encourages uzembe as someone said above.

The late Kijana Wamalwa said that in order to achieve greatness we must stand on the shoulders of those greater than ourselves.

I disagree, Africans were selfish even before the british came, the british did not create a class system, African culture is build around master/slave setting. I am a kalenjin, my great gradma was brough from Maasai before the british to serve my great gradpa. Infact in African culture the man eat first then everyone else with get the leftovers once he is satisfied! If you go to Western cultures kids are fed first.

My brother I'm not sure what you are disagreeing with. I did not say that the British made Africans selfish, I just said they ingrained i.e firmly fixed the class culture. This is why Wazua posts are littered with talk of middle class, etc.

The issue of the man eating first was a throw back to the caveman days where the man hunted for game. If you didn't feed him first, eventually the entire family will starve.

@ masukuma my solution is based on Kijana Wamalwa's quote.

It might not be a solution to some but for me,the fact that we are trying to identify the problem(s) is a step in the right direction.

Applause Applause .

Whenever I come across well travelled and highly educated people in positions of authority behaving talking and reasoning like jungle animals,I lose hope for Africa.
We are a strangely unique people who read 'motive' in any attempt to progress.

First step is to acknowledge that we are enemies of progress.

When the 'white man' came, he found 'us' behaving like 'wild animals' and embarked on the process of civilizing the African.

And now, a few years later, it's the African calling himself a savage, and bemoaning his being.

It makes me wonder, isn't this the highest form of 'indoctrination', 'Babylon'? For, there's no way a person can speak thus of his self and not be lost.

We are doing exactly what the 'white man' wanted us to do. Abandon our identity and embrace the 'enlightenment'.

But what will happen when you awaken to the event that the enlightenment ideas have run out breath and are now dead?

Where will you run to?

Whose idea will you borrow? You Godless race?

Idol worshipers. Vampires.

There's only one true enlightenment, being in identity with the most high and unnamable being.

To embrace the mind, the body, and the spirit. And be in such unity now, and forever more.

I think that is also a foreign idea.My point being that ideas can't be defined as Western,Eastern or African.Africa has to be open to foreign ideas but like @masukuma pointed out, applied to our local conditions. If we've discovered we were doing something(s) in a way that wasn't fulfilling our goals shouldn't we accept it?
