I came across this photo on the BBC website and was immediately struck by a number of things.

First, Pres. Kenyatta appears to be the more enthusiastic of the two leaders. But this may be down to his effusive, mtu wa watu personality. I don't know too much about the Chinese president's nature.

More importanlty Pres. Jinping, judging by his outstretched arm and aloof posture, seems to be conveying a message to UMK: I am the one in charge here.

Pres. Kenyatta, rather oddly, looks to be the more deferential of the two.

I can imagine that in the negotiations for the 400billion plus project, China had the upper hand in everything. In another thread, I alluded to the fact that we carry more cheerleaders than seasoned negotiators to these foreign trips.

Are we really getting the best deal that we can from China? It is clear that our relationship with them benefits one more than it does the other.

You are reading too Much from the Picture.. Unnecessarily. China is dying to be a superpower, which will happen sooner or later.

That is an Undisputed fact.

China knows too well that Kenya is Central in China's Pursuit of wrestling West's Control Of Africa. China is Slowly succeeding.

The Moral of My story is - China Needs Kenya, Much as we need China.

Simple.

No better deal would have come from USA or Europe... A deal of this size would take FOREVER to approve in the West!
