*Reasonable wage increase? YES. Lakini with conditions that means increased productivity (pay for performance).
_____** No blanket increase but within the existing contract framework. ____*** And if you still want to quit, then go ahead. I would try to keep the 'important' folks like engineers lakini staff I can replace in 3-4 weeks... I would let them go. Ask them to run like the wind.

@VVS The story of how the airline indusrty is perfoming in general and the economic meltdown and general reduction in air travel is NOT the issue here. The way I understand the KQ issue, the money is there. It is being shared out extremely disproportionalety. If retrenchment and paycut is to be done, that is fine. But the paycut ratios should be applicable to the 'new salary'. Retrenchment would be good, but pay those who remain what they 'deserve'.

@pierce If u get a better offer,u will scram like the wind. Offer includes all the perks. I will not take a job where i have to drive 1 extra hour for a small increase. Let the market decide. If you get a better offer from EK,then fly like the wind. Ama shut up and stay put. No-one is FORCING (not slavery...) anyone to remain in KQ.

_____ @ general... why am I off...? one-liners make no sense...

@ VVS,from your points, you see no value in KQ's customer service team.

@tg Please read the other comments I made then let's talk... There will be star performers who should be rewarded per their contribution. Some jobs are simply commodities... and u pay market price (however low) for those workers...

What will follow after the strike.

Most of the profits come from long haul. This is not happening as travelling has been reduced to neccessity and fares are cheap compared to other years.(Planes are flying empty). Domestic flights shall we say is like 'pocket money'.

So strike on the 11th Aug 2009,then pay cut just after the increase( then another strike,i guess) then job cuts. But if in 'utopbia' those who are said to be overpaid, agree to a pay cut to increase the less paid, then maybe.

Wrong time to go on strike, look for a second job or leave.

150% pay rise is un realistic. funny how people complain but are not ready to move to those that can pay them well. May be some of the guys here will retire in KQ. A reasonable increase is wellcome but over 100% not at this critical era!
