The day I found this sponge being sold for KShs.400 was when I told myself I would never shop at any Uchumi again. Sad

I love this Counter at NSE but loath the Inside of this Supermarket. The arrangement leaves a lot to be desired. Its Dirty and Filthy, Shelves are old style and they Just Operate like Gava.

For me, Nakumatt is the most expensive, but, best organised (Just like MPesa Bank).
Uchumi is just in between there in terms of cost, but very low on organisation , very disorganised and care free attitude employees!

Nakuru Mattress was second, but fairly a distant!
Ukwala was the most mwananinchi priced.

I once bought a piece of nduma/arro-root weighing kindu 1.5kg at a whopping 227 shillings, I nearly fought back!
The nduma was fresh and ok but a similar size was retailing at 90 bob in Marigiti.

I was a loyal Uchumi shareholder and shopper for many years. Straight organization of aisles makes shopping easiest for male species smile

Simply put, I quit both counts. Not sure how the same items would run such a high tab - maybe Uchumi (economy) became more of a brand than their philosophy.

Since I could not afford shopping there anymore, I chose Nakumatt for monthly shopping, some Tuskys for random shopping.

Most of my activities in Nairobi are on Tom mboya street and since Uchumi has no branch there, i always find myself at Ukwala and Tuskys despite wanting to support Uchumi since i'm a share holder.

Equitorial for Nanyuki, Maguna-andu for muranga, Mama watoto for kakamega, Maathai for thika, Karatina, Nyeri. Kutembea nayo! The muranga experience was the best. Everything so cheap, huge supermarket with great variety. The uchumi at karatina gets a good whipping from maathai. Too expensive.
