Is it not a fact he was jailed for obtaining money by false pretences and escaped from prison? I am not privy to the fact you state, at least I know escaping from prison is a criminal offence - that's why I said I give him the benefit of doubt since the police as of now don't seem to have that record. He said so himself and I was with him in Shimo la Tewa!!!
