@Maka, seriously speaking, how comes your legal arguments are always wrong in this forum. Am not hating or something like that, but i have noted that you are always 'giving legalish' advices and comments but all comes out as wrong. Are you a lawyer or law student?

I think we are missing the point by saying that we should bench mark JKIA against Africa. We should bench mark it against other transport hub which JKIA is. And we need to have an airport that will remain a hub in the next 50 years.

CNN travel ranked JKIA as number 6 of the world's most hated airports. Does that mean it is that bad and some African Airports should be ranked as worse off? No. The reason is that most African airports may not be considered here because the travelers who may have particoipated in this rankig have not used the airport. CNN rightly comments this about JKIA

surely @tassia, why are you this gullible? Did you also notice that 'research report' also ranked JKIA as better than Los Angeles (USA), Heathrow (UK), Charles de Gaulle (France) and JFKennedy is a point behind (USA).

Then you continue to show us images of Bole (Ethiopia) yet images have nothing to do with cleanliness, orderliness, and similar parameters used in the CNNgo 'research report'.

The fact of the matter is that in nyeuthi Africa JKIA is ahead of many of it's contemporaries......people are talking eti some of us have not travelled around.....anybody who has widely travelled in Africa will agree that with it's filth JKIA is still ahead of many, nobody is claiming it's than those majuu airports but don't just hate coz everything Kenyan should be bad......wish some of you have seen how Ogas go gagagga while shopping in those 'fake' duty free shops.

Correct! And they will just present half 'facts' i.e. taking parts that favour their arguments and ignoring the actual picture!

Am not saying JKIA is paradise (it is for me since entebbe, juba and rumbek are not worth mentioning) but its much better than most international hubs in the world.

I have duly noted I am always wrong will definetly work on this, thank you for pointing it out...everyday is a learning process atleast you have given me the reason to work even.harder...
My ALWAYS wrong thoughts...

There is no provision in law that allows one to forcibly evict third parties not party to a lease agreement. If a lease expires by effluxion of time the Tenant is supposed to vacate and if that Tenant is a head tenant the landlord must issue a simultaneous single notice to the tenants in possession. To evict one must have a Court order and authorities/precedent on this abound in our Courts all the way to the Court of Appeal. In the Duty Free case Pattni became, at the stroke of midnight, what we call in law a "hold-over" tenant that is a person who though initially in rightful possession of property as a Tenant, wrongfully and without the landlord's consent, remains on the property after the term of their lease has expired. This type of tenancy is also called a " tenancy at sufferance". In Kenya we do not have what are called "self help" evictions. ONE MUST FOLLOW THE JUDICIAL PROCESS to obtain an eviction order. There are no two ways about it. KAA had two options when it comes to dealing with Pattni: Accept him as a tenant for a new lease term, or treat him as a trespasser and seek eviction.  Once KAA chose a course of action, they were bound to it and could not seek another remedy. They had to obtain an order for eviction. As far as service of the order is concerned please read the reported case: Daniel Murigi vs Kenya Railways Corporation (Nyamu J). It is evident KAA evaded service and depending on the singular facts of a case they can be cited for contempt. Finally ALL the sub tenants have causes of action for the damage caused to their items

@ tassia has posted the Rink!!
It reads better when paraphrased
"...Can't be disappointed if you're not expecting much.
As African airports go, it’s not that bad -- but as an international hub, it may be one of the worst out there.”

This is the common refrain among travelers through JKIA, who either don’t have the heart or the expectations to give this dated aviation facility the kind of pounding reserved for the JFKs and Charles de Gaulles of the world.

Saddled with a 1958 blueprint designed for 2.5 million passengers, JKIA receives close to twice that many. Hence the airport’s 2005, Three Phase, US$100 million expansion project which has seen long delays (something about the rain) and has been spinning its tires somewhere in Phase Two for the last few years.

For now, that means business as usual: cramped spaces; long lines; inadequate seating; frequent power outages; tiny washrooms hiding up several flights of stairs; shabby duty free shops; overpriced food outlets; and business class lounges worthy of a shelter in mid-city Los Angeles.

Sure, it’s a breeze compared to Lagos. But it could be so much better. The confusing result: grateful disappointment?

Now if you have used the gents at Shaka Zulu International In Durban or spent time at Oliver Tambo International ... Let us Talk... Cant imagine delayed flights at JKIA waiting at the Departures and dozing..

A simple question of comparing whatever you claim to have seen on visits has become so difficult.......Google could help but I just don't enjoy people typing away things against JKIA when they can't substantiate their claims of superior airports in Africa that they claim to have used!!!

There is also a lot of smuggling of duty free items from the duty free kiosks. I know because I've been a beneficiary of duty free liquor.

Let the law take its course. Normally for such demolitions to take place, there is usually a vacate notice given at least thirty days before demolition. However, kenyan over time have a lot of impunity.

KAA need also to build a modern Airport, we have the capacity....I have visited a number of countries and they have quite good Airports.
