Sometimes govt spending like in this case does actually boost the economy. It will be a good thing for the companies that will win tenders for the various activities during the celebrations. Hata sisi when we throw birthday parties, we boost the local businesses eg supermarkets, pubs, butchery etc.

Kijana wacha mbangiSad .....Why then go to all that pain??....Just call 2500 people to state house and give them a million bob each

i concur re fangi

do people even for a moment think that raia companies will win those tenders? did you read the mess about the cbk tendering process?

i am sure you dont throw birthday parties whilst one of your own is in hospital with unpaid bills ama mtoto ako nyumbani bila school fees

Regardless we are all together in supporting the excessive expenditures through taxation.

I'm surprised that guys here are surprised or pretending to be shocked.

You elect people who are supposed to be in a courtroom and expect things to be rosy?

Na bado. There is nothing you will do about it and even if you do, there is nothing that is going to change. This is the Kenya you wanted and God is good, he gave it to you.

In other news.....Kenyatta National Hospital Heart surgery department has not had a facelift since 1978. All they need is 100 million to equip the facility.

But I guess a statue for Kibaki, a few billboards for Kenyattas father are our path to Konza and Vision 2030.

I still do not understand why people find it so easy to misuse public funds. Would most of these people sit in a committee to draw up such a budget if the contributions were solely from family members and friends?

This government is developing a huge appetite for eating, and if we're not careful, we could be completely broke in a few years' time.

And by government I mean the Jubilee administration plus the 47 county authorities.

And some people want to believe we are not a failed state.
How much will the 1.5% import levy generate in a year? We levy vat on basic commodities then spend 2.5bn on partying?
It's getting really saddening.

The import levy translates to about 5k per vehicle. Then you can go ahead and hike the car's price by 50k quoting the unexpected "exhorbitant import levies" to hapless buyers.

I don't why you try to isolate yourself. This is a bit elitist. Unless you're in the diaspora, if the Kenyan boat sinks you'll also sink with it.
