Sometimes govt spending like in this case does actually boost the
economy. It will be a good thing for the companies that will win
tenders for the supply of various goods and services during the
celebrations. Hata sisi when we throw birthday parties, we boost the
local businesses eg supermarkets, pubs, butchery etc.

Exactly

YES! even if it means selling groundnuts & water during the celebrations. Let us think positive!!!!

Corruption and wasteful government expenditure could be back to the levels witnessed during Nyayo's era. At this rate, I see no more than one term.

Where is this digital government going? Sad

kenyan voters vote based on communities not issues and as long as tyranny of numbers is there leaders will always come from certain communities.

This may appear to be so. But the digital world is an opportunity to live in a golden age.

Tycho, I used the context of blind and deaf to mean that the government is being insensitive - especially on the celebration plans.

I still do not understand why people find it so easy to misuse public funds. Would most of these people sit in a committee to draw up such a budget if the contributions were solely from family members and friends?

This government is developing a huge appetite for eating, and if we're not careful, we could be completely broke in a few years' time.

And by government I mean the Jubilee administration plus the 47 county authorities.

Miraa banning has been around for a while.

Quote:
In 2010,the ACMD =Advisory Council for Misuse of Drugs launched a comprehensive study to review Miraa's status in UK.
The study was to regulate and govern it's importation and sale – or even a complete ban.

In March 2009 BBC reported that the drug was spreading to young people outside the communities traditionally associated with its use.
They believe it encourages dependency and makes users unproductive.
