Regardless of how you feel about him,Ruto enjoys widespread support in the R. Valley where the violence was also supported by the majority. That's the fact and the truth. The deeper question is why a community would go for the violence option against their outnumbered neighbors. And just makes you wonder why our 'leaders' find it so easy to organize a mob to kill and rape and they cannot bring people together for development and wealth creation - the lack of which is given as the raison d'etre for these kinds of clashes.
Anyway, the only long term solution is nation-wide education on entrepreneurship, wealth creation and optimal resource utilization. In stead of having the colonial 'Musical Festivals' for our school kids we should be having Entrepreneurship Competitions. Such that our national populace will be steeped in these kind of skills and knowledge that allow people to prosper regardless of where they go. And hopefully then we can change our national conversation from politics to productivity and stop the spread of the 'naomba serikali itusaidie' syndrome that reduces capable and talented Kenyans to do-nothing beggars waiting and hoping for government help to solve their problems.
As for Ruto - he is the embodiment of misdirected energy and aborted potential. I would have loved to see him marshall the troops from Riftvalley economically. They could have set a goal to outcompete the Kikuyu in all areas of business and in so doing got his people towards the path of self realization and development. The anger that the R. VAlley populace feels could have been redirected into positive energy. That way in about 10 years Kenya could have been doing more than 10% GDP growth per year. Same thing for other Kenyans. That's what Kenyans also need to learn from the Indians & Europeans that come here and using the resources we were taking for granted succeed beyond our wildest dreams.
As for the IDPs their sweetest revenge is to get back on their feet through hard work with an aim of surpassing their former wealth. As a nation, our gain is to make sure we stop being a dumping ground and dump site for Kenyan talent and ability. Whether it's from the Kalenjin,Luo,Somali or any other tribes in Kenya. I hope Kenya will rise up greater than it was before all these problems came to haunt us. I hope we can build a more just, focused and fair country.

This whole PEV story is going to be a quite a drama by the time it's over. Will anyone get prosecuted? Will new clashes arise because of prosecutions?

I hear you out. What causes the strong bitterness in the kalenjin community is something that needs to be understood and which may benefit the rest of the country? As you have correctly pointed out it is incumbent on individuals to struggle to get out of their difficulties. The Kalenjin community and for that matter the entire Kenya should have learnt that the presidency does not bring wealth to a community,if the poverty in Central as well as in RV (not sure about poverty but bitterness yes) is anything to go by. Accordingly,it is criminal for leaders who seek power for their self aggrandisement to hide behind communities when they commit their crimes. The Kikuyu elite will elicit sympathy and support from its tribe. A regime should be seen in totallity and leaders should be judged by what they have delivered. The prism of looking at a regime as a community is not only misplaced but misguided by opportunist who would like to seize the opportunity to advance their interests.

It is the high time that what we demanded of a government is a conducive environment to pursue wealth creation and better living conditions for all individuals but not for our tribal brothers. I wouldnt care less because my brother or sister is the president if the country would continue to bleed.

If there is anything to learn, the Kalenjin community can only teach the rest of Kenya that....its the least they can do in resolving this politico-economic cross purpose. They should be the wealthiest beyond their wildest dreams should that be the case.
