Seen several of these on our roads these days, most driven by ladies.

How would the VW Jetta compare with the BMW 320I/318i & Merc C180?

My buddies advice that I keep away from CMC.What is the wazuan take on this vehicle?

Personally, enjoyed driving the Jetta (and this one was diesel)...but what are you looking to compare? Fuel efficiency?

1. Fuel efficiency
2. Maintenance (This is the bit my buddies advice I keep off CMC, claim parts prices are over the roof)

Car will be town driven 98% of the time.

@ nonstoppingthis, Generally any advice about this Vehicle (Jetta)

Parts should never worry you if you get hold of @JKMwatha.He once sourced for my friend some spares for his Mercedes from the UK at manageable prices.

@Mawinder - Thanks.

@ryz - Not sure you can compare Jetta to any of the others - C-class, 3-series or even A4.
They're .. a different level of luxury.

With regards to fuel efficiency, maintenance as well as initial price, Jetta is likely to cost you less and likewise... less 'clout'.
It may not hold its value (resale) well in Kenya.

But if you're looking for individual opinions, out of all those... nothing but the merc.

@JKMwatha thanks. Have heard similar opinions on the Jetta from my buddies. Now I can narrow down to my initial choices of BMW 3series Vs Merc C180. Actually I see myself going for the Merc C180.

I'm guessing you are specifically saying C180 because you're looking at fuel economy....
Just so you know, (or you might already be aware) that the C200 (post 2003) is also a 1.8L engine... And the newer C180 (post 2008) is available in 1.6L.

Not sure what you mean by ex Nairobi .....

I have sold several newly imported 7yr old C-Class's (mainly 180/200) in Nairobi from Ksh1.65 - 1.95m.
Never sold the others locally, but by order
So for these I will be able to give you CIF figures

Assuming all are saloon cars, auto, petrol engines... (1.8- 2.5L), below 80k miles
BMW 3 series, Merc C180/200, Passat, Audi, all start from £6000 - 8500 (KES800k - 1.2k) CIF Msa.
Depending upon trim, colour, equipment, condition, etc.

The reason Passat is of the same value, is that now petrol engines (as compared to diesel) are not as common in UK.

But what I know is that in KE, the C class has a better holding/resale value than does a BMW, Passat or A4.

Thanks for the info.By ex Nairobi I meant the local prices.I will give you an order before the year ends for a Navy blue C200 1.8 as generally in Kenya a Mercedes opens doors.

Hey @JkMwatha , are you based in NBI or UK?

Life is joy, death is peace, but the transition is very difficult.
