Sadly this Migingo issue has now become a Luo issue as opposed to the national issue that it should be.

Kibaki has decided to export his personal dislike of the Luo at the detriment of kenyans.

In future,M7 will regard Kibaki as his bi*ch to be used and dumped when needed.

No cause for alarm. The biggest problem is a govt with a very poor PR. 'The people' have no idea what the govt is doing but sth is on the works nontheless.

* In 2004,kibz sold us out to anglo-fleecing basterds.
** Before the elections he sold us to the libyans for cash to fund his re-election. ***After the elections,he sold us out to m7 for UG army support to contain those agitating for the true winner of the elections.

This man Mutua....at Migingo belongs to Kenya but we have agreed Uganda to provide security. Allowing a foreign force to provide security in your country.
Dint watch the whole briefing,did he say when the work permit for the Ugandan security expires??

@Kensaf
Please dont mislead fellow bloggers.

Mutua and the guy from Ug were categorical that,since there is a dispute as to who owns the Island,let the status quo be maintained - Joint ministerial communique.
This includes Ug police to continue providing security as they have done since 2004.
They pointed out that there shouldnt be any harrasment of fishermen from both sides.
Media houses were cautioned against inciting citizens by recklessly sensationalising their reportage,most of which is based on unfounded hearsay.
Politicians were also exhorted to be responsible as they open their mouths over the issue.

@Mcreggae

Did you say something about 'seizing wonders' or wornders not ceasing?
You,kind of lost me buddy.
Alright,forget Mutua,now,tell me who to believe?

I thought mutua gets his brief from the mainstream govt,read Kibaki/Muthaura,and that's why he attracts ire from other quarters which would like to be recognised as equal share holders.
It follows then that Mutua position is the mainstreams govt position.
That may be bitter for some to swallow,but that happens to be the truth.
Kibaki,and only Kibaki gets intelligence briefing of the goings on around the country.
Based on that info,he instructs Muthaura and Mutua accordingly.
Other share holders get to hear news along with the general public as Mutua briefs the media,hence the hatred.

As pertains other country's officials with their flags at KICC as they briefed the press......., well well well,we have a long way to go if that is the first time we've seen that happening anywhere in the world. Or have we allowed ourselves to be blinded so much by passions and intuitions as to put some of our mental fuculties on hold.

All in all,in my earlier post,I only sought to put the records straight to @Kensaf,that Mutua never said the Island belongs to us,rather he acknowledged the existence of a dispute,which is in the process of being resolved,and that in the interim we need to remain cool headed.
Tell us your bit. something we can work with,not some gut feeling.

MK is right in keeping quiet since most of the fish proceeds from Migingo end up in ODM hands,but if Migingo was anywhere neari Muranga or Maragwa M7 could have not even tempted.Sooner you will hear Mungiki controlling matts in Mingingo.

i look at this this way,somali's from somali land have invaded the kenyan buisness market with a very alarming rate.am not saying that they should not run buisness in kenya,no' but the've bought half of the coastal region and eastleigh being there capital city.so,i will not be wrong to say that migingo is 1 but a few scenarios where our goverment has failed in protecting its citizens interest. There is this saying that goes 'dont take my kindness for weakness and my weakness for granted' UG is taking us for a ride and its time to show KAGUTA our sovereinity should be respected.

All that starts well,ends well.

Migingo ...sorry! Mijingo island is only 1km from the official kenya uganda border. Kenyan fishermen have been using it as a launching pad to cross over the border and fish on the ugandan side. Now uganda can not sit back and watch its resources being squandered by kenyan citizens. With its shores being 16 km away uganda is faced with a challenge of patrolling its waters hence the annexation of Mijingo to serve as a patrol base. If uganda withdraws suddenly,it will leave its fish to the mercy of kenyan fishermen. The proposed survey is aimed at demarcation of the lake to protect ugandan fish from kenyan fishermen. I guess m7 is no fool after all. But after the demarcation Uganda will need a ship and speed boats stationed close to the border just to keep kenyan fishermen at bay.
