last weekend I took lunch with a friend at a reputable hotel in machakos.we did not eat anything at a wedding we were attending. come Sunday both of us started diarrhoeing and having splitting headaches.we were coming from different parts of the country and only met at machakos town so we had taken different meals therebefore.
we are therefore 100% certain that the food poisoning came from what the hotel served us.
doctor gave some medicine but both of us have not yet healed.
do we have any recourse against the hotel?lawyers pls

I dunno about the legal stuff. While at it, you may wanna consider what recourse you have against the public health department, usually under the resident DMoH.

That aside, what medication were you given? I'd expect some significant improvement by now.

did you really understand @newfarer's post???

@newfarer pole sana, it will be a tall order to prove that the food you had at this particular restaurant caused it all, get well soon..

If a significant number of people who ate at the hotel at the same time are also sick, then maybe you'd have a case

@newfarer pole sana. put the name of the hotel here and on the topic of this post. The management will then contact you to try get a solution. Remember the Nandos Oilibya Buruburu case?

thanks guys I'm getting better. diarrhea is over now but still managing the headache with panadol.hopefully it will go.taking a dose of antibiotics too.
I wrote to the hotel.
they apologized to me but also informed me that they've never had a similar problem. they said they always sell all food for the day on the same day.

they promised to investigate their processes to ensure that high standards are maintained.
finally they offered me a complementary lunch any other time I visit machakos.

I think my case was satisfactorily handled.this could just have been a bad day

i am glad you are getting better. my take is that this is what establishments say all the time "we have never had a problem like that before". even if they sell all their food on the same day, the food could have been contaminated during preparation that same day.

as you said, the complimentary lunch has been offered and it could just have been a bad day. be sure to update the w republic on what happens when you have the complimentary lunch with a friend smile

Yes chances are high that it was a serious bout of food poisoning. Some very basic bacteriology. Bacteria are grouped into two wide groups based on the colour they produce when stained with a dye called gram stain. There is Gram positive bacteria and Gram Negative bacteria. Majority of these bacteria produce toxins which harm the body's cells. Harmful bacteria found in the intestinal tract are Gram Negative. They produce endotoxins when they die. This is opposed to Gram Positive Bacteria which produce exotoxins when still living. What that last statement means is that even if you have been put on treatment, the bacteria die but continuously produce the toxins as they die. Antibiotics used to treat diseases caused by endotoxins may lead to an immediate worsening of symptoms but then conditions improve as the endotoxin breaks down. That is what you have been undergoing my brother. Keep taking the antibiotics. All will be ok. Even if you feel worse. Eventually you will feel better. While at it avoid salads as much as jguru avoids toyotas and always take properly heated food. However... taking food that has been heated after staying at room temps for long may not help because the bacteria will die but the toxins they produce will still give you a dose of poisoning. The toxins are rarely altered by heat. Habari ndio hiyo

And why don't doctors go the extra step of advising patients to take pro-biotics after a doze of anti-biotics? to replenish gut flora...

Hey Guys well i think that highly acidic foods can harm the body, making it difficult for tissues to fix and can improve your cancer threat. Many meals are acid and risky in large quantities. Thanks!!
