If I could give anything back to society this year,my choice would be to help this boy live a normal life.

Many have already offered help on the nation website but the NMD management seems to be unwilling to coordinate. If there is any SK member who works with a charitable group that is well placed to coordinate assistance,please step up,I will happily contribute.

This must be really painful and stigmatizing for the little boy.

Cant someone,anyone give us the account details. NMG have done a shoddy job on this one.

I believe there are many pple who are willing to help the hapless boy.

Can't NMG post the account details in the Nation ?

Lets hope the doctors verdict will point us to the right direction...... I understand the govt has instructed KEMRI and KNH to fast track this issue..

if the incompetent and the reckless compete,the result is a disaster.. MN

Njunge,

I look forward to hearing back from you. I was hoping Nation would organize an account,since such an account was likely to be provide legitimacy. But that should not forestall the desire to help this young boy.

Njunge,

Please share any info you get on this. Stanley deserves support

Mpole sana,

Where are you? You have always led the way in co-ordinating such activities. We could pull resources together and contribute as SK club to the worthy cause.

@All
It amazes me how noble and willing to help SKerians can be! Kudos!!

I believe the reason why the family hasnt given any account number as yet is coz the boy hasnt yet been fully diagonized and there is still debate amongst various Doctors as to whether the condition is treatable or Not and If the bot can get any help locally.

However,The parents suggested that they're still weighing the options and will release the account details as soon as they know exactly how their son can be helped and by whom. As of yesterday when i talked to a contact on the ground,a certain Doctor had come forward offering to assist Stanley Badi for free...but am yet to confirm if the family took the offer and what is the way forward. I believe @Njung'e will do the follow up and I will assist whenever i can since am out of Town at the moment.

Keep up the good spirit:)

@Leona/All,

I did get in touch with George earlier in the morning and he informs me that Stan's family is so far very cautious with wellwishers and are yet to release details of any account or otherwise.............I hope to talk to Stan's mum,whom i understand is the one running the show and i'll let her understand ours is purely goodwill.........Get back to you folks once ready...

... looks like the parents are able and do not want any help. What motives do they think well wishers have? All that everybody wants to see is the boy getting well,if that is possible. The money does not neccesarily have to be used on medicine; from the way he apperas he needs a special matress to lie on ...etc. Some Kenyans.....

Stanleys' family have been through a lot in the 8yrs they have tried to raise their son in a normal way despite his condition.

If you followed their journey through those years..you would understand where they're coming from. They have 'seen it all' and for your info,there are guys out there looking to exploit such vulnerable/desperate families and i believe they have been contacted by such goons already. Kindly understand that its in their best interest and for their sanity that they are being rather descreet. Look at it this way...If stanley was to be treated for free by some noble Doctor,then the crowds already gathering at his home donated the mattress/extra expenses he needs...Would they honestly need more help in terms of cash? Of course not! They are a very humble family and ALL they want is for their son to live a normal 8yr old life. They have the opportunity to make extra bucks out of the situation,but they have opted not to. Lets just wait for the final report...and if an account will be opened,the details will be given and we can then help.

@Magigi - I am sure you know some of our briefcase NGOs that will jump on this opportunity to start a 'save a Kenyan Child' fund-raising campaign overseas only for the monies to line up someone else' pocket. In fact,I would be surprised if the family has not been duped before given that the kid has had the condition for years. It could explain their hesitation...not that they do not care for the child.

This is a great cause for us to be involved in. SK charity club would be a good channel for organized involvement tho' of course this does not take away the right to discreet individual contribution.
