@Ante_Christa/@thuks, so you are saying that the slow guys should stick to the left-most lane and leave the other lanes for faster traffic? No?

Ulipata aje DL wewe?

Was going to ask the same thing, this explains why so many people have no idea why they have been shown the middle finger on the road.
And those when you flash your lights they decide to put on hazards, ignorance!!!

Boss, THIIIIIIIIINK! I believe I have raised my points cogently throughout this conversation. I know what the textbook says. Don't just rant, argue out your points. And don't just follow the law brainlessly, think about the motivation behind it. Wewe niaje?

I get Seppuku's point, 110km/hr should be the maximum speed so nobody should be overtaking you!!!!.....why then stick to the left and change lanes every now and then as you overtake the slower ones???

Driving lesson number 2384: The maximum speed limit on Thika highway is 100km/h; not 110km/h. It was reduced after the expansion - only God knows why!

Driving lesson number 2169: There is nothing like a "fast lane" in the highway code. All vehicles must be driven on the left-most lane even if the road has 10 lane! The only exception is when you are overtaking.

Driving lesson number 1575: You should never overtake a vehicle from the left hand side.

Hope that clears things up.

The problem is that nowadays, there are no driving lessons to speak of and the driving test is one big sham!

You said it, it's the maximum not minimum, meaning there obviously will be traffic moving at less than this speed, for instance trucks, bikes, etc. On what lane should such traffic be?

Ideally the different lanes should have different speed limits[minimum].
The outer most lane is for utility vehicles and buses, the second outer most for heavy trucks, the next for slow moving and lastly, the inner most for the fastest.

Not unless you drive with your eyes on the speedometer, you wouldn't know when you drop to 95kmh,so unless overtaking, leave the inner most lane alone. I see guys driving at 80kmh and hogging the inner most lane,it should be made illegal.

Applause Applause Applause Applause it is clear from this thread that even some wazuans are not aware of this basic thing. almost once collided with a person who overtook from the left and immediately decided to join the middle lane while I had overtaken from the right and was moving back to the middle lane on mombasa road. escaped only coz I had anticipated that.

Just imagine three trailers moving at 50km max hogging the three lanes.

Is this even a question? No wonder I see some people driving on the right, with a trailer on the left moving slowly, and this guy on the smaller is just not overtaking the trailer causeing lot's of obstruction behind him and he feels nothing.

Please guys maintain left when you're not overtaking. It'll minimise faster drivers from swaying from left to right, manouvering.

It's coz of the speeds involved. If you are on the inner lane and you are driving slowly, of course you'll make faster drivers keep maneuvering the lanes. The outer lane is for slow cars and those exiting, while the inner lane is for higher speeds. Again, the left side is your blind side, it's easier to see cars from your right side mirror.

Which IS a problem. If I am cruising at 110kph, why not just stick to the innermost (right-most) lane instead of weaving in and out of the left one? That feels like the less dangerous and more efficient strategy.

What if I am behind you cruising at 120kph?

You will be over-speeding.
