For the avoidance of doubt, I do NOT support the teachers...and I have kids in public school. Depends on what you do. If you ask the small trader in the village for whom the teacher is his most important client/customer, your guess is as good as mine on where his/her loyalties lie. Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes on.

Or a financial institution like a Bank or Sacco. If they default on their loans... The entity that has let all Kenyans down is SRC. I wonder what that commission does all day! By now they should have tabled the provisional/amended salaries for teachers, policemen, nurses, doctors and other civil servants who form the bulk public service. Let those estimates be discussed early in public fora and amendments made. This public wage bill will cripple us. Trust me, this is not the last strike that teachers and/or public servants will have. Until public salaries are "harmonised" labour strikes will be persistent and common. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

@mukiha never underestimate the power of headmaster in gichagi. If he says that Uhuru is refusing to add for him 5k so that Ruto can get a 100 million carpet, those parents you are talking about will be on the streets with the teachers. The more info the teachers give out, the more people can see what the gov't is trying to do. The longer the kids are at home, the less the gov't is liked. This is a simple thing. Give them their dues. But I guess laptops have become a pet project for some and they are willing to hang their first 100 days on them. Well said, but for a long time when the public talks of public servants, its always at the very top level, MPs, PS, Directors,... Doctors, teachers, police are not mentioned. the SRC took cue and started "harmonization from top" now the middle and bottom cannot hold.

Any collective agreements not complete by June 30th were to be null and void. So they made sure they were on strike before then to ensure that the gov't stops delaying as usual and implements ALL their agreements.
I have to say, KNUT are bright chaps. Now that the June 30th passed, and it was not implemented, what will happen?
