This sounds arrogant. I thought courts are the highest arbiters on the land. Is there any one time he might need them?

Arent teachers overpaid compared to other civil servants? Ho come no one is mentioning the desks now?

I have heard this too. I hear a graduate teacher is earning 50k and principals earning 250k. Kweli au rongo?

Rongo!!!!

how much for graduate teacher, principal, snr principal etc?

30 years in service you get a gross of 56000 bob..

What do you expect if in those 30 years you've been doing the same thing with the same qualification? And I am not belittling teaching; I hold it in very high esteem.

But, if you want to earn more, you must do more! Otherwise, be content and only expect nominal increment to hedge against inflation...

So the question is: How much was the salary in 1983? The CPI was 5.32 in 1983 and 132.5 in 2012 - about 25 times (Source HERE)...

If the 1983 salary was about Sh2,250, then the said teach should not complain!

Thats a very sad statement from you...

Would you have preferred that it came from some one else?

In my opinion, people should only get a pay rise for two reasons: [1] to hedge against inflation and [2] when they do more work.

When you stay at the same place for many years, your dedication is compensated for by your pension; not by a higher salary!

No, Maka. I second Mukiha.

Teachers are the BEST paid civil servants in Kenya! Check the salary scale that I uploaded earlier.

A trained graduate teacher earns a starting basic salary of 26323 per month. Add allowances. And they work 9 months in a year.
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.
