After all most private schools in nairobi, including the one my kids attend, have computer classes starting class one. Or you are worried that your watchmens' children, who go to govt schools, will be using laptops like your kids. I won't talk about rural counties but if governors can afford 53m for entertainment, then surely they can afford to build a few classes. Also note that the age of desktops is gone, just like the one of landlines. what is the priority? building classrooms or buying laptops for kids in govt schools? and what about the renumeration for the teachers in those schools? are all other facilities catered for? what is going to give these kids a better chance at education collectively? i doubt that it is buying laptops.....my raia cents (since 16%vat would apply if it was my 2 cents) As Nairobians, do we really need to build more classes at Moi avenue primary, Garden estate primary, Kangemi primary, Kayole primary, kileleshwa primary etc? I think the ones we have are sufficient.

This does not mean you should use such language with those you differ with. You sound like a person looking down on those you differ with. the chief has spoken - don't you dare question him/her. repeat after me, the laptop project for the public school kids is a waste - that should make our chief happy, we don't want to anger him

The billions that the US spends to send just one shuttle into space are enough to provide housing and Medicare to millions of poor Americans. Does this mean Obama has his priorities wrong?

Will they also be 'given' maintenance allowance? Why is the government still funding schools? The laptops, just like text books issued to pupils by schools, will remain the property of schools. Doesn't this raise costs, corruption, and in a sense, create lags in technological change? There was a time when schools were providing desks, nowadays I see parents buying and maintaining them. Text books? This has never been done efficiently in our schools.

I have a problem with @ McReggae's intolerance to people of differing opinions. I would call it superiority complex. Democracy does not belong to the dead
