@ Rollout.....I think what you have brought up can be handled by the County govts once they get funds from the Central govt. One of the objectives of devolution is to promote social and economic development and the provision of proximate, easily accessible services throughout the country.

So??? should we keep quite when the national government shelves some money for the counties to undertake what you are saying and in turn uses them to build Kibaki a retirement home and offices?!!.

While in the same breath even the money that is allocated to the counties are not yet even released.

Jubilated or Corded this amenities cuts across board.

@QD......I'm not in anyway supporting the misuse of taxpayers money to build Kibaki an office which he really doesn't need. In fact i totally support the idea by Parliament’s Budget and Appropriations Committee to use that money to pay teachers. What I'm trying to bring up is that County govts should be able to improve health facilities within the County....they will definitely get the funds soon enough.

@ Mc Reggae.....True but that doesn't stop the governors from addressing health care issues within the county. The Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago recently unveiled a Sh5.2 billion budget for the 2013/2014 financial year with the lion’s share of the projected figures being directed at improvement of infrastructure. He allocated Sh500 million towards Healthcare. The plan is to to equip health centres and dispensaries with drugs and medical personnel to decongest Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

See sh500 million is enough to equip a large hospital!

I know about the strategy to decongest Moi Teaching, it is a good strategy on paper. The biggest problem in healthcare provision in Kenya right now is, providers/DR/Nurse, have no incentive to go to work because they are underpaid and have to hustle to make a living, bed days are significantly high because most of the time doctors are not available to discharge or even treat the sick. There is a fundamental problem in a country when you pay a doctor Kshs 100,000 when you pay an MP, PS etc Kshs 1,000,000+

Allocate him an office in one of the government buildings. He can choose which one! Spend a couple of millions renovating the office. we spend less and the building/office remains public property which can be re-allocated if and when needed!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Haki this is silly. I cant believe I used to respect Mutava Musyimi.

Kenya has a budget deficit of over 380 billion. And they are spending money on Kibaki's office. This is incredible.

And where is Kibaki himself to come forward and say he does not need an office as any decent leader would. Any decent leader would ask that the money be used instead to build houses for poor city dwellers.

What do these people want to do with this office ? Is this a scheme to sub-lease the office space and pocket the money ? Imagine a scheme where government builds an office, pays for its maintenance. And someone simply sub-leases the office space and pockets them money. Hii ni ujinga gani ?
