There's a big difference between talent and great players.

Those saying Oliech is a great player are probably comparing him to the mediocre players in Kenya during his time.

Musa Otieno was a great player. JJ Masiga, Nahashon Oluoch etc.

Dennis Oliech is a talented player who never became great simply because he thought buying a hummer and going to F2 was utopia.

Alba on the other hand is a wannabe copycat. Want's to be like alma but can't. Probably thinks he's Oliech.

And true, Oliech probably thinks that scoring goals entitles him to coach the national team, get free passes to training and VIP3 lounge.

His sell by date is here with us. Let us move on.

None of this makes sense. I like Musa, Masiga and Lule. None of them accomplished what Oliech did. Being able to play in the top French league for all these years is not an easy feat for a Kenyan. The mountain is much steeper for players who come from countries with no football pedigree like Kenya. Oliech who plays mostly as a winger scored several crucial goals to help Ajaccio survive relegation. I have watched his game and he has improved a lot. He can shoot well with both feet, his positioning is good, his runs are excellent. Even at Auxerre he played so well that Auxerre fans were waving the Kenya flag in the terraces. There was one season he scored 12 goals.

Note that Oliech at 17 was the reason Kenya won the CECAFA cup in 2002 when he scored in every goal. And he was always a sub. He was also the reason Kenya qualified for ANC 2004 again scoring in almost every qualifier.

There is no Kenyan player who has accomplished these. Lule had talent but he left at 22 and was never seen again playing in Kenya. Masiga was not the best of his era. Remember this was the era of "golden boy" Ayoyi, Mulamba Maradona et al. Otero was a phenom by the time he was in form 2. But The fact that he never made it to Europe disqualifies him from being compared to Oliech especially when you consider that even the likes of Mike Okoth & Robert Mambo thrived in Europe.

As for me being like alma, I think not. I am a uniter not a hater. I do not bring ufala politics into a sport that is supposed to unite Kenyans

Thank you bwana @Alba, at least you can say things they are, some of these people never even follow the world ranking of playera where Oliench's exploits in France have placed him above several EPL stars!!!!m

You guys can continue re-writing history as much as you wish. Continue pegging the success or failure of a countywide game on one person and you will remain on your own.

As you were day dreaming on how an indisciplined outfit as Kenyan football could win the world cup, the rugby management went ahead and started poaching players who would otherwise have been playing Kenyan football.

Players behaving badly are quickly put in line (ask Injera). Officials behave with decorum even when they have major issues. Most important, I'm able to take my children to a rugby game and enjoy my afternoon without being clobbered to death by terrorists.

The students of Kakamega High, which used to produce Kenyan soccer players, have seen the folly of behaving like Oliech, FKF and football fans.

There is no future in Kenyan football that is why men leave their wives and families on weekends to watch football from other countries.

Anything is better than watching failures in the making.

But we changed the constitution, you are allowed to believe that Oliech is a star. I'm allowed to compare him to Prezzo and Huddah. Talent but "no mas".

Rudisha or Oliech who do you choose?

Nobody says Oliech is a saint. But he is the greatest Kenya has ever produced.

Greatness has nothing to do with good behavior. Michael Jordan, the greatest basketballer treated team-mates poorly and even punched a team-mate during practise until he had to see treatment for a black eye. Lebron James is now the most hated player because of perceived selfish behavior. Diego Maradona was an ill disciplined drug addict. George Best was a drunkard as was babe Ruth.

Compared to the above people, Oliech looks like a Saint. Its just that people have nothing else to talk about.

For me I am satisfied with Oliech's explanation. Amrouche is coming across as a hypocrite for not chiding the bad behavior of Jamal Mohamed and others smoking Shisha in public a few days before the game. No wonder his career has tanked. If you ask me, Amrouche has handled this rather poorly. It seems instead of talking to Oliech , he decided to discuss it in the media. This is very poor leadership from Amrouche. He should have called Oliech aside and told him what he expects from a captain. Evidence suggests he did no such thing.

People like to trash Oliech and forget all the things that make him great.

Arm-rush is the goat in all this. Really a player with a card is not useful in the camp and a big distraction unless the coach wants to use him to motivate players or assist in particular skills coaching. In that case Arm -rush would have called up Dennis and asked for his attendance to do specific tasks. How many times have you seen Woy Hodgson leave out Rooney, Ash Cole, Baines etc from the squad coz they have cards and not eligible? When there are Qualifiers most leagues take a break but a break doesn't mean that Dennis must be Harrambee camp. Arm Rouche's manner of communication is pathetic and frankly to me suggests he is not a coach but an average trainer of an academy. He lacks man management skills

On Oliech he has a lot to offer, you only need to watch Harrambee stars playing a competitive game to see how much Oliech brings to the party and how average the other players are. The gap is very yawning. I really pity Oliech he is an example of how expensive a poor and shambolic football development regime can be. He has everything a world class striker needs but is quite short on technical skills of the game. Just knowing what to do when and how to sythesize situations on the pitch, he lacks. This is not his fault he has had to learn these in France mostly but at an advanced age which obviously means he disadvantaged compared to Drogba, Etoo, Anichebe etc. Had Dennis gone to Europe in his teens he would have turned out to be one of the best strikers in the world. He is quick, strong and a good eye for goal but it ends there. A real pity. all in f-off Arm rouche you are a waste of wakati
