Is that so? I thought it was the other way round - China produces more efficiently than the West. I do not pride myself to be an expert in economics so, yes, I needed you to go deeper because when you put it as you have, it is educative, simple to understand and i get to learn one or two things.

China is not more efficient than US, they are just being [Chinese] exploited. In short cheap labor.
That is why the US with a quarter or so of China's population, has superior GDP.

In all HONESTY, we are not doing well and to turn this issue to one of US vs China is just stupid.

We need to pull up our socks and make all systems of our state,WORK!

We are not doing well, that is fact. We can do better. And I doubt we shall ever reach a point where we are now comfortable with what we have. If we reach such a point it means we are dead in terms of innovation and ambition. That not withstanding, I dont believe ours is a failed state. However much we may not like our country, we are not a Somali. Call it by any other name but failed state. Unless the word Failed state is properly defined, then even a guy at a cyber in River road may come up with a "report" declaring US a failed state coz they are unable to control gun usage such that frequently kids splay bullets on people along the streets.

If you had a class of 222 students, at what position would the word fail start applying? Give a definate position please.

And stop comparing Kenya to Somali just to feel good.

Cheaper is not equal to Efficient

Production in China is Cheaper that is why American Companies are moving EFFICIENTLY moving production to China and other CHEAPER places.

This story of China being America's King is spread during political season in the US by the party losing the election.

The fact is, China dies without American business producing in China. America still remains, albeit with more expensive products. Being as efficient as they are, they would find another solution.

Just because someone can produce a product cheaply doesn't mean he's powerful. Otherwise the guys in Juakali would be competing with Kentainers.

As to Kenya being a failed state, the best person to ask is the fellow who's just been grenaded somewhere. Or the lady who's just reported a rape case, or the driver who's driven at 99kph and is told he's driven at 150kph by the cop asking for 20 bob.

That is the definition of a failed state. Where Your Safety is a factor of who you know, how much you have, the colour of your skin, what tribe you are etc.

Answer this question carefully. "do you expect to find justice in Kenya each and every time someone does you wrong? Or do you just say, I'll accept and move on?"

Therein lies how much of a banana republic the Kingdom of Zamunda has become. It's not for anyone to convince you, you already know the answer.

Common characteristics of a failing state include a central government so weak or ineffective that it has little practical control over much of its territory; non-provision of public services; widespread corruption and criminality; refugees and involuntary movement of populations; and sharp economic decline.[1]

Depends on how many marks each of the scored. Suppose they all scored 85/100? That is an A already. So would you refer them as failed simply because they are number 220/222? The standards must be clearly defined.

Okay. We've failed. What do you propose we do?

We should start by examining our mythology.

'Statehood' is about society, and society entails fundamental beliefs and values that are shared in rituals, literature, art, logic, 'language'.

All these are put together in one sack; mythology. The narrative is sweet and imbued with hope, and can even be told to a child, who will cling to it, and form personality around it.

Everyone is a child, and we are a society, what roles are we playing, and from which narrative?

If we have problems, then our roles aren't fitting in, and our narrative is faulty.

For example, let's take our relations with the Al shabaab: Why are we fighting here? What narrative are we following?

I think the US is admitting tacitly that it is a failed power. They too should be invited to this conversation.
