@Njung'e
Guess who suffers most during this time. Yep the kids and the parents especially those of us who have kids in public schools.
This time i really disagree with you since 1997 the govt has failed to follow up on its deal...why sign something genuinely knowing you cant deliver and if you tell me its too much moneywise its a fallacy...we waste a lot of chumz on unnecessarry stuff...
I really would have agreed with you on this one. But my biggest problem is that this KNUT or whatever they call themselves these days is so much for the money that they do not think about the quality of education the same teachers are giving the kids. You say the kids and parents suffer? They've been suffering ever since the teachers decided "hata watoto wakianguka, hawataanguka kwa compound ya mwalimu". Majority of the kids in public schools cant even read when in class 6-7. some are going to write exams and they do not even know how to read english... and the teachers are always more than happy to take to the streets for more pay! They even fought the "performance contracts"! The pay should be tied to the performance of the schools and they should stop giving blanket increaments. Everyone should be rewarded based on appraisal... just like all of us are done..... Me things.
And yes, how can we pressure the government to stop wasting our money on those laptops? Even if it was a promise, Uhuruto should just admit it was a silly campaign line and we will all be ok with it... in any case, we are giving laptops to kids who dont even have books or classrooms to use. I am so against it given that we do not even have money to maintain the bloody toys and it is a recurring expenditure. Can we afford it? I agree with Mcrg..... It's bollocks! Complete bollocks!! We need to take it to the streets... i bet that's the government language....
