Am unable to comprehend this:-

1. You have a garden and your neighbor says you can’t uproot the trees because they create oxygen for his animals/plants.

2. Egypt has the Ocean to itself, why not do same as Libya for example which has no Nile.

3. In monetary terms is Egypt willing to pay for full use or let’s say opportunity cost for countries upstream not using the water...

I think the guys up there think we are in colonial times….

For the first time I support M7
times.

For no. 2 above they dont have oil money to run the machines to filter the sea water enmasse!!!

EGYPT HAS NO OIL.

Are you sure about this?
i thought they do produce oil close to Alexandria and close to The Tor( South Sinai). You can see the wells and refineries as you drive to Sharm el Sheikh and to Dahab City. I think around port Said too.

Ethiopians online said if a resolution is passed for them not to use the waters then they'd rather poison it. When the Egyptian President threatened to go to war over the dam, the Ethiopian PM asked them to go ahead and then went ahead to build the dam. Channeling of the water started on the 28th of May, if they haven't done anything, they will do nothing.

This 'kichwa ngumu' attitude will lead us to the 3rd world war. Might be the last for humanity.

But I've always wondered, sometimes loudly, about this... Why can't we process ocean water for irrigation and human consumption? If we can get tonnes of steel to fly, surely we can do that?

We're talking about Ethiopia. May be you should ask, why the Kisumu county residents should go without water in their taps yet the source of River nile is that basin called L. Victoria

Burudians claim the source is Ruvyironza in Bururi province

60% of the water of the nile comes from Lake Tana in Ethiopia via the blue nile! the white nile (the one that chucks from Lake Sango) only contributes 40%.

White Nile's catchment is very wide. Kenya, Uganda, Tz, rwanda, Burundi and even DRC harbours the catchment.

The reason it's cheap is not coz they produce it but because the Govt subsidizes it....almost 75% of the cost!!!

Due to their high population and their low Oil production (as compared to other Oil producing giants like Saudi Arabia) Revenues from oil is not enough to improve their GDP thus raising them in the status of countries like Qatar and the like.

Nevertheless, fuel is cheap and thus transport and other related issues are quite affordable

I agree they produce oil, but that is not the reason it is cheap.....the Govt most of the cost of production and distribution of this oil hence the super cheap oil!!!!
