I hear you McReggae but here are some facts,

Denno is 28 going to 29yrs (that's like 48yrs old on the field)

Between 2005 and now he has moved from Nantes to Auxerre and now at the 2nd division Ajaccio. Now Ajaccio has been relegated from league 2 to I don't know where after finishing last. See a pattern here? He's not moving up!

Now his behavior towards the national team has been one of arrogance. One should always put country first and solve small disputes later because in your country lies your biggest support base. When the cookie starts to crumble, it really crumbles.

My thinking is, as Amrouche said, he's done is done and we should look more towards the new stars coming up. They say a footballer's life expectancy on the pitch is short and should spent well.

@2012, I think Denno is farely comfortable with those movements (lack of ambition if you ask....being too comfortable) look at what Amrouche said before about him:

"Speaking on Monday at Nairobi’s Hills Park Hotel, after meeting Kenya Premier League(KPL) coaches, the Belgium born tactician said Kenya is yet to get a sharp striker like French based Dennis Oliech who plies his trade with Ajaccio FC. He said Oliech can play in any club in the world including elites team’s like Manchester United and Barcelona.

‘Oliech is the only striker who has impressed me perhaps in Africa. He can confront any defence single handedly and destroy it and leave it for dead. I wish Kenya could produce more strikers of Oliech calibre, we can go very far. Indeed, even many strikers playing in the English League, only few you can compare with Oliech. He is a cut above the rest” said Amrouche.
..."

We can't really wish away Denno's more than 10 years contribution to the nationala team, he has been the most consistent and outstanding in his generation, he is among Kenya's greates ever if you ask me!!!

I would never wish him away. I think he's a great talent and his absence from the Nigeria match I believe was what made the difference. All I'm saying is it does not matter how great a player one is, without discipline there's nothing there.

BBI will solve it

No need to exaggerate. Ajaccio finished 17th in the French top division.Just a click away.

There's a big difference between talent and great players.

Those saying Oliech is a great player are probably comparing him to the mediocre players in Kenya during his time.

Musa Otieno was a great player. JJ Masiga, Nahashon Oluoch etc.

Dennis Oliech is a talented player who never became great simply because he thought buying a hummer and going to F2 was utopia.

Alba on the other hand is a wannabe copycat. Want's to be like alma but can't. Probably thinks he's Oliech.

And true, Oliech probably thinks that scoring goals entitles him to coach the national team, get free passes to training and VIP3 lounge.

His sell by date is here with us. Let us move on.

So you think one can be a great player minus talent????.....even Mariga is still snubbing HS coz of FKF.....any player mwenye macho yake imefunguliwa will always question when things go wrong, in the same breadth you are attacking @Alba, I think your very personal attacks on Oliech (VIP3, F2) means you probably wanna be him!!!!!

I'm happy McReggae that we have agreed that Oliech is only a talented player. I'm sure at age 29 he's going to be great especially if he plays in Division 3 in France.

As for Mariga, exactly what team does he play for. Does he play anymore?

Let's not build cults based on some players. There are other talented players in this country and the emphasis should be placed on those that will do anything for the country even if FKF exists. That's the difference between a great man and cry baby.

I wonder what you guys would do if Messi or Ronaldo played for Kenya. Probably be lining up at Nyayo stadium to wipe his ass.

Oliech's behaviour can not be condoned in any way shape or form. He would be fired in any company. It's worse since he's been behaving like that since he started playing and everyone treated him like an egg.

But I guess in a country where teams have serial terrorists who mug their country men as fans,Oliech is like a demi-god.

On the contrary @alma, keenly following this thread I am yet to see anybody who thinks Oliech is a demi-god, you are the one making him look so with the so many adjectives you throw about, heck you are not even a football fan (given your wazua contributions in matters football) yours is always to come and throw some insults at other people in sports when the opportunity arises, @Alba makes some very sober arguments here on wazua reagarding football in Kenya, at such points you dissappear until any subject of yout hate surfaces!!!!

.....and I dare say George Best was a great player!!!!

George Best was a extremely talented player who died broke and an alchoholic.

Who cares if I don't talk about football. I probably don't talk about it coz you guys are talking nonsense.

There shall never be good football in this country as long as players with discipline issues as Oliech are allowed to decide who to play for and when.

And please don't blame FKF. This is a case of willing buyer, willing seller. You guys went and elected your leaders in FKF. So as they say, CONSEQUENCES.

Football in Kenya is made up of indisciplined officials, players and even the fans.

Oliech seems to be your poster boy and obviously exhibits all the characteristics inherent in FKF, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards fans. Huyu coach ataniona, kweli hajui mimi ni Oliech?

If you are expecting such a mix to bring great things, I think you are deluded and need to change to Guinness. It is real food for the mind.

Lets not go overboard I agree with @Alma discipline is key if you want to succeed in any field...look at the student who manages his or her time well, sets up a proper timetable and forgoes the joys of partying that most of his/her friends engage in...goes on to excel in exams and all the rest gets mapped out...same with sports look at all the greats not in football alone but in any other sport who have given discipline a backseat they shine for a while then as fast as they rose...poof their fire gets extinguished...Oliech would have been a GREAT player he has the pace and power any coach would want his striker to have...he also sees ahead like a great chess player reading the opponents mind as to the moves he,l make....but he let the "good" things of life cloud his judgement....get the best of him...flashback ..." January 2004, Kenyan Striker Dennis
Oliech was part of a shortlist of The
soon-to-be famous five . . These men
may be mere unknowns today, but in
two weeks' time, expect them to be
showing clearly on the radar of
Europe's talent scouts . . . said an
article on guardian.co.uk."...that was at the AFCON after scoring that super goal against Cape Verde to let Kenya sail through to the tournament the first time in ages...rem the other list from the guardian..." Oliech was named in the same breath
as 18-year-old Wayne Rooney then of
England's Everton, Brazilian Santos
pair of Robinho and Diego, Robin van
Persie then of PSV Eindhoven
(Netherlands), Gonzalo Rodriguez
from San Lorenzo, Argentina, Wesley
Sneijder then of Ajax Amsterdam, 14
year old Freddy Adu then of MLS side
DC United and 17 year old Lecce
player Valeri Bojinov from Bulgaria"
To be honest he let fame and fortune get into his head,he let having a chrysler and getting VIP access to the best clubs get the best of him and thats why he,l just be another indisciplined player...who had great talent, who could have gone places but dint he now remains firmly in the analogues of the..."he had/could have been" but because of this and that he will not....

Every time i look at Dennis Oliech and his talent and remember the potential that he had as a young man i feel very sad. Then i read of his escapades in F2 and other places i just appreciate the fact that Kenya and indeed the soccer world has missed out on another "would-be great" striker

Not to worry, others who will be more greater are coming up. Being able to tame Nigeria the way we did must have given some young aspiring talents quite a boost on or off the pitch.

BBI will solve it

None of this makes sense. I like Musa, Masiga and Lule. None of them accomplished what Oliech did. Being able to play in the top French league for all these years is not an easy feat for a Kenyan. The mountain is much steeper for players who come from countries with no football pedigree like Kenya. Oliech who plays mostly as a winger scored several crucial goals to help Ajaccio survive relegation. I have watched his game and he has improved a lot. He can shoot well with both feet, his positioning is good, his runs are excellent. Even at Auxerre he played so well that Auxerre fans were waving the Kenya flag in the terraces. There was one season he scored 12 goals.

Note that Oliech at 17 was the reason Kenya won the CECAFA cup in 2002 when he scored in every goal. And he was always a sub. He was also the reason Kenya qualified for ANC 2004 again scoring in almost every qualifier.

There is no Kenyan player who has accomplished these. Lule had talent but he left at 22 and was never seen again playing in Kenya. Masiga was not the best of his era. Remember this was the era of "golden boy" Ayoyi, Mulamba Maradona et al. Otero was a phenom by the time he was in form 2. But The fact that he never made it to Europe disqualifies him from being compared to Oliech especially when you consider that even the likes of Mike Okoth & Robert Mambo thrived in Europe.

As for me being like alma, I think not. I am a uniter not a hater. I do not bring ufala politics into a sport that is supposed to unite Kenyans
