After being disappointed by several banks, I am starting this thread to gather experiences from others about which banks they use and what they like or dislike about them. I hope it will serve as a useful resource for people shopping for a personal bank account. I happen to be doing exactly that after getting frustrated with my current bank. Your contribution will be highly appreciated.

I am beginning to seriously consider them. You're the 4th guy I've heard say that since I started asking. How is their online banking service? On the flip side, someone thinks they are cutting corners.

Here too. Although as things stand now I don't care much for bank loans.

We have a long but painful history, but things are excellent nowadays.

My experience with kcb is nothing to write home about, from frequent ATM breakdowns, long queues in banking hall and a general lackluster approach to their work, whatever they perceive it to be. The day you need a loan from them, it'll take we'll over three weeks for the same to be approved/effected. And yeah, they do not offer asset financing facilities to individual customers, only corporates.

Meanwhile, across the road at mwangi's, matters aren't any better. Their ATMs have a penchant for breaking down around end month (my pal swears it's a ploy to force OTC withdrawals which cost more) and they generally believe that we have nothing better to do other than socialize in banking queues.

I have used Standard Chartered all my working life. Great for everything.
Recently, I have also started using I&M. So far no problems.

My experience with Barclays and StanChat has been good. Barclays is better due to a wider branch and ATM network. Internet banking is good and they even launched Android and IOS app yesterday if you are tech-savvy.

I was with BBK for a few years at their Lavington Green branch. Terrible service.

Moved to the close by I&M at Valley Field. Great service. You have an account manager allocated to you, and you can call them anytime.

As for SCB, I don't think BBK even comes close in service.

My 2 cents anyway. Different strokes for different folks
