The legislatures now threaten to reduce taxes for Kenyans, slash budgets for CIC, SRC by 57% to 'teach' President a lesson for supporting salaries reduction

Wouldn't alteration of tax percentage require amendment to the relevant act which will eventually go to the president for it to take effect?

Kelele za chura......they are getting desperate.

Good question.

Parliamentary Group on Investment confirm that they will take the following measures: VAT to be reduced from 16% to 10% (the lowest in the World for VAT paying nations), President and Deputy President's salaries to be reduced by 57%, SRC and CIC to have budgets reduced by 57%, all people earning a gross pay of 50, 000 will not pay tax....

If there is one thing one should never do is to dare a sitting president.

I hope the President calls their bluff. I'd be happy paying lower taxes. Who wouldn't.

I'm praying they move and pass the motion tomorrow.

these guys set their own calender - the president does not have control of parliament. he cannot send any of them home. there is a time limit to the recall clause (3 years or so) so... the only way is to change that provision and this requires executing this through via what is known as 'popular initiative' that must also be passed by 24 out of 47 of the county assemblies before it shows up at your footstep as a referendum.
