Okay Mr. Know-it-all but in my life I have seen babies suffer and die from cancer and other funny maladies that have nothing to do with alcohol. I thank God for the number of years he has given me but also enjoy life. After all, it is not a rehearsal.

Sad Mbloo, my comment was only in reference to JC turning water into wine(wrongly perceived to be alchohol). Sorry, didn't mean to raise the temperature.

I'm of the opinion that certain wines and alcoholic beverages are beneficial to the body and mind.

This is very interesting, care to explain. I assume that all wine contains alcohol.

Show me in the Bible where you find 'Juice' then we'll dialogue. You can use google, if you wish.

And while you are at it, try looking for 'strong drink'.

I know the usual thread of Furahiday will come up soon. I just want say something to those who like this drink.

But first, allow me to quote something:
Quote:
The modern disease theory of alcoholism states that problem drinking is sometimes caused by a disease of the brain, characterized by altered brain structure and function.
The American Medical Association (AMA) had declared that alcoholism was an illness in 1956.
The AMA further endorsed the dual classification of alcoholism by the International Classification of Diseases under both psychiatric and medical sections in 1991.

We have to be sympathetic to the alcoholics Sad Sad

Today, medical doctors say alcoholism is a disease.

And I say to those who will partake:
- if alcoholism is a disease then
- it is the only disease that is sold in bottles
- it is the only disease that is advertised in newspapers, in the magazines, on radio, on TV channels,
- it is the only disease that has ar licensed outlet for sale
- it is the only disease that gets revenue for many governments of the world
- it is the only disease that brings deaths on the high ways
- it is the only disease that destroys families
- it is the only disease that has no viral or germ as its cause

Quran 5:90, Allah says, it is not a disease, it is Satan's handiwork.
Quote:
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah],
and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

Alcohol isn't the same as alcoholism.

Information changes brain structure and function.

Everything can be good.

Ok, I'll indulge you.

You go drink all the tuskers (or whatever your poison is) untill you have had too much to drink. I too will drink grape juice till I have had too much to drink.

Then, let them bring you a better tasting tusker (or whatever is considered the sweetest alcohol) and let them bring me a sweeter grape juice. Let us see who identifies a difference in taste (If you won't be inebriated).

After this, let them call M7 and have him come for his cow. Id be curious to see if he'll come for me or for you?

Mbloo, do you even see the satire in your statement? 'walikuwa bado na hamu' and what you had highlighted previously 'guests have had too much to drink'.

In a wedding people drink alot of sodas, and then some more. As long as celebrations last. In those days, there was no soda. Everything that was made from grapes was collectively called 'Wine'. Alcohol was called 'Strong drink'. Its my prayer that you consider this facts objectively, arguing for arguments sake is foolhardy.

Kumbe even in the church they smoke some string stuff:

"Ephesians 5:18: "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."

"Proverbs 23:20f: "Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags."

"Gen. 9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent."

........and many many more

@Mukiri in the contexts above, is wine still grape juice in the bible????

Like I said, Everything that was made from grapes was collectively referred to as 'Wine'. Alcoholic drinks were specifically refered to as 'Strong drink'. Its why you won't find 'Juice' in the Bible.

Here are a few
Proverbs 31:6-7
Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

Proverbs 31:4-7
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to take strong drink, lest they drink and forget what has been decreed and pervert the rights of all the afflicted. Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, and wine to those in bitter distress; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

Proverbs 20:1-7
Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler, And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

Good People,

My old man used to imbibe the thing for as long as i could remember him. What i went through with him as the eldest son, the pain it caused my mother, his missed opportunities until the doctor told him no more and he stopped it, i would never wish even my worst enemy to glorify the brown bottle. My own brothers took it up after him and the damage it has called them is painful. I vowed a silent promise to my mother that i would never touch it and surely i have never.

If you have not tasted it, dont. If you are in, try to get out.
