He will want to come when his term is over with some "social or environmental agenda". George Bush had his follies but he sent some hard dollars to assist with the Aids epidemic. Obama has too many domestic economic problems for this trip to mean anything other than dressing and fancy talk for Africa.
I hope indeed when he comes calling they stick him with some very junior functionary from the Foreign Ministry smile
We are spared the nightmare traffic though. That is good.

According to the Jubilee strongman Itumbi, he has sent so much money to Kenya after the SC ruling that he need not step here!!!

If its not Xi Jinping who has skipped .co.ke...

Sorry, he came to TZ and skipped Kenya, we must keep looking for more oil and minerals, once we get commercial quantities, he will come and take all of it in exchange for chinese expats to sell us chicken

The only reason the Chinese President sidestepped Kenya at that time (mid-March) was because of the petition challenging UK's victory....i don't think meeting Kibaki would have made any sense. Anyway they sent a high-powered delegation to UK's inauguration, i'm sure UK will soon be making an official visit to the far east. Obama akwende kabisa hata his predecessors (Bush snr, Clinton & Bush jnr) all skipped Kenya when they toured Africa.....

IMO being in the good books of Uncle Sam [and BO's visit would certainly be a sign of that] is a big deal. At the very least KTB should get the numbers of tourist arrivals from there up [I found it amazing that Morocco, SA & pre-uprising Egypt each get four times or thereabouts the number of our international tourist arrivals} and we'd get to exploit their floriculture/fresh produce market 'properly'. But that's just me.

What is the significance of his visit to Kenya.....none of his predecessors has ever paid us a visit yet the bilateral relations between the two countries are still strong.

In 2003 Bush jnr skipped Kenya but visited Benin, UG & Botswana, later on TZ and Rwanda.....why not Kenya or Ethiopia? Clinton Made similar trips to the same countries, sasa Obama amefanya vivyo hivyo what's new?

Other than the fact that he is half black, what makes him different from the other former Presidents?
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
