There have been reports linking Man Utd with a move for former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. I actually thought Man Utd would pull it off until this story came up...

"Arsenal could profit from Manchester United's bid to bring Cesc Fabregas back to the Premier League. The Mail Online believes the Gunners inserted a 50% sell-on clause in the Spanish international's transfer agreement in 2011. Fabregas left north London for Barcelona in a £35m deal. This means any approach for the midfielder will probably see the Catalans ask for an inflated fee; they will lose half that to the Gunners but will also want to recoup their initial outlay. And given Fabregas is only 26 years old and has three years left on his original contract, the Catalans could ask for a fee in excess of £70m for his services. And as far as incoming United boss David Moyes' plans are concerned, the sell-on clause is only part of the problem. It is believed there is a first refusal clause in Fabregas' transfer agreement, which obliges Barcelona to inform Arsene Wenger of a formal offer for his former captain. In that event, Arsenal can then make a bid (believed to be between £20m and £25m) which the Catalans must accept."

Don't be short sighted, David Gill was appointed in 2003 after Peter Kenyon left. Gill had been part of United from 1997. Ed Woodward has been at the club since 2005, is the executive vice chairman and will be the CEO. Fergie will be a loss, but he head hunted a man who shares many of his ethos. As for Phelan and Steele, isn't it obvious that when a new coach joins any club he comes with part of his staff? It's evident everywhere. Rooney going to PSG? Well, there are able replacements in the squad. Kagawa, Van Persie, etc. The castle may appear to crumble, but in critical thinking, what appears to be may not be.

Why ask for 70m pounds and accept Arsenal's 20m pounds? Why not put his figure at 40m pounds and retain 20m pounds and give the Gunners the other half? Because, as much as he's been put on the market, if he goes back to Arsenal, what will he win? Plus his position iko na Santi Carzola.

@ Jus Blazin.....Cesc has won several titles at club and International level, he's not as "starved" as RVP, besides If he goes back to Arsenal then it increases our chances of actually winning something. Btw Barca have still not finished paying for Cesc's transfer fee, they owe the gunners around £5m. I think if they sell to Arsenal the sell-on clause would not be considered. I don't see Cesc signing for any other club (apart from Arsenal) in England. I believe if he fails to start regularly for the Catalans then Fabregas will only leave for one club.... Arsenal, btw he said he was shocked to see RVP sign for Man Utd.

I liked this one...SAF has more knowledge about soccer than all kenyans put together,he has constantly made the right choices...questionable at times but to a high degree/percentage right...he knows why he picked Moyes...a big name coach(akina benitez,mourinho etc) would have come with ATT that would have brought down the team...

I think the decision for Moyes was also informed by the fact that he is patient with players who are averagely skilled. He has spent 12 yrs at Everton and ensured the team remains stable n strong inspite of shallow recruitment pockets.His longevity at Everton is a big plus for him unlike some big name coaches who only cherish short term trophies here n there. SAF is leaving an average team compared to his previous squads. The team is also quite young, thus needs nurturing by a patient coach. The Scottish connection is also a safe guarantee that Moyes has been dyed in SAF's philosophy.
