And anyway who can trust the ailing and risky Nigeria airways to fly them from Lagos to Gabon? Safety first!

Nigeria Airways Ltd., more commonly known as Nigeria Airways, is a defunct Nigerian airline.
Plagued by mis-management, corruption, and overstaffing,at the time of closure the airline had debts of more than US$60,000,000 ($74,880,608 in 2013), a poor safety record, and its operative fleet comprised a single aircraft flying domestic routes as well as two leased aircraft operating the international network.

smile smile and something else white in colour.

My friend once used this airline while travelling within Nigeria. Believe you me she travelled as a standing passanger.
Lord, thank you!

But we Kenyans can be very pessimistic at times, very quick to criticize, tear and refusing to see the good in anything.

Quote:
The government on Sunday said Deputy President William Ruto's plane was hired for Sh18.5 million on a one-off basis for foreign trip and in the interest of his personal security. Read (Ruto’s luxury jet hire to cost Sh100m)

In a press statement, the government said the hiring of the jet to West Africa nations trip by Mr Ruto was necessary because there hardly exists any scheduled or commercial flights connecting between the capitals.

"A Commercial flight would have cost more because it would entail circuitous and torturous trips to European capitals and back in just to pick up connecting flights," said the statement.

"In fact, by chartering the flight, the Deputy President has been able to realise this at a very cost-effective means," it added.

The government also noted that there was no contract of one-year lease between Kenya and VistaJet, the firm that hired out the plane.

"The plane was hired on a one-off basis at a cost of Sh18.5 million. This figure is in fact less than that quoted by local companies, which was Sh19 million. Those interested can confirm this with the company," said the statement.

"According to official records of similar trips in the past it would have cost upto Sh15 million for a travel to a single country. If the Deputy President had used the traditional one trip at a time like his predecessors, it would have cost more and months to complete," added the statement.

I mentioned something to that effect in one of my 'sane' posts.
If local companies quoted at 0.5m higher than the foreign one, then what's the prob? it's competition But we refuse to see the .5m saved and make noise over the 18.5 spent, which is still far less than what used to apply before.
The trumpet imho, originates from these local losers.

would wish to know the plane's local agents.

Buy Kenya, build Kenya 0.5M is a pocket change to GOK.

Welcome.

In Flight announcement

"Good morning, Ladies and Gentlemen. This is your captain (Boneyface Kasali Yaro) welcoming you on board of Nigeria Airways.

We apologize for the four-day delay in taking off, it was due to bad weather and some overtime I had to put in at the bakery. This is flight 126 to Lagos. Landing in Lagos is not guaranteed, but we will end up somewhere in the South. If luck is in our favour, we may even be landing in your village! Nigeria Airways has an excellent safety-record. In fact our safety standards are so high that even terrorists are afraid to fly with us!

It is with pleasure, I announce that starting this year over 50% of our passengers have reached their destination. If our engines are too noisy for you, on passenger request, we can arrange to turn them off! To make your free fall to earth pleasant and memorable, we serve complimentary Bongo tea and Okin biscuits! For our not-so-religious passengers, we are the only airline who can help you find out if there really is a God!

We regret to inform you, that today's in-flight movie will not be shown as we forgot to record it from the television. But for our movie buffs, we will be flying right next to Air Barka, where
their movie will be visible from the right side of the cabin window. There is no smoking allowed in this airplane. Any smoke you see in the cabin is only the early warning on the engines telling us to slow down! In order to catch important landmarks, we try to fly as close as possible for the best view. If, however, we go a little too close, do let us know.

Our enthusiastic co-pilot sometimes flies right through the landmark! Kindly be seated, keep up your seat in an upright position for take-off and fasten your seat-belt. For those of you who can't find a seat-belt, kindly fasten your own belt to the arm of your seat , and for those of you who can't find a seat, do not hesitate to get in touch with a stewardess who will explain how to fasten yourself to your suitcase." And if we pass your street please tell the stewardess or shout Owa O Pilot !! so we can throw you off safely, at least that would save you taxi fare.

ENJOY Nigeria Airways the Best in the world ! We hope you fly with us again.

People should stop being petty. The jet is being used by our own Deputy President and there is nothing wrong with that.Besides,no public funds have been lost and after a gruelling campaign, time to enjoy life.Wait for scandals that are coming as these people need to recoup their campaign expenditure and their salaries are not adequate.

@mawinder, this is perhaps the best post on this thread. I agree with you the 100mn payment is not a scandal. Wait for the real scandals ; and they will be many from wsr's side of the jubilee govt.

Hint : Min.of energy & petroleum.

Otherwise accept and move on.

I am not holding brief for Jubilee government.... But I knew this was another exaggerated story by Nation on Sunday.

Do you remember another story "Laptops to cost shs 200 Billion by Benjamin Muidi of Sunday Nation?

It turned out they would only cost about shs 5 billion per year and Shs 200 Billion was just an exaggeration to sell the paper.

http://www.nation.co.ke/.../-/reaeh8z/-/index.html

Today's story about shs 100 million cost of the Jet by DP is just another one like that.

Watch out for such stories from Sunday Nation.... they will not disappoint.

We know who the Editorial team were supporting in the last elections..... and they should now accept and move on without exaggerating their stories.

Jubilee gov't hires plane for 25million....No its 18.5 million ONLY. Because there are no airlines to Nigeria.

In other news police take 12 hours to contain 2 people who only had 3 grenades. Thanks to the expert training and the state of the art equipment that the Jubilee gov't bought in the first 8 weeks in power.

These are the same state of the art equipment that has been used to quell insecurity issues rampant in the country.

Next month after Ndemo has quit being the gov't spokesman in a portfolio that is not his, every police post shall have a car.

The math is simple 50 police stations times 2000000shillings = 100 million and we shall have a police station with a second hand car, fuel and a working phone line.

After all, Kenyans can afford the "Hague Express Njet" but not security.

Priorities for the "g"ustler and consequences all rolled out in one package.

I think this is blowing hot air over nothing. After listening to Bitange, it makes a lot of sense to lease the prestige aircraft.

BBI will solve it
